Today was the first day of spring. I rode to work, boy was it slick. What's the proper following distance for the salt truck? I gave it about 1/2 a mile. The ride home was much better seeing as it was 48 degrees. I love my electric vest. 27 degrees this morning and I was warm and snug.

I came home yesterday to a large dumpster across the end of the alley. I managed to get my car into the garage and a fellow popped around the corner and asked if this was my house. Since the brewing schedule last year worked so well I'm trying to get a seasons worth of beer done by May. I have started a nice dark Dunkel since the basement is a good lagering temprature. Since this week will hardly get above 10F it's cold down there. I also have a batch of steam in the pail with extra hopps left over from a brewing incident ( Read more... )

Today I took the time to go walk in the woods. In my world this also means Grouse hunting season, orange attire and a shotgun. There are still things that have not changed. Now there is paint on the new wallboard in the upstairs room. The room is quiet and much warmer than with the old window. G picked a very nice green for the walls. I am back from school in Chicago. The complexity of the average auto proceeds unabated. Our latest model now has 66 control modules with 24 separate network systems. I find it amusing that as the complexity rises what my employer thinks that the skill it takes to repair falls, so I don't have to be paid as much ( Read more... )

Or more correctly the dust from the house and the fiberglass is killing both G and I's lungs. Today I put the last of 6 1/2 bales into the house and covered with plastic. Sunday will be the last two bales and the last of the plastic.

Went to the Thirsty Pagan in Superior Wisconsin this weekend. The beer was ok, not great. The food was cheep and unremarkable. The big drawback was the loud ambiance, lots of exposed ceramic brick, concrete floor pitched towards the drain and uninspired decor. All in all I'm not impressed.
