...I'll find a way to bring them back to normal. Somehow. No matter what.

[Yeah. Can you tell some of said 'drones' are people from back home he cares about?]

Your determination is admirable, but do you have any sort of method by which to back up your claim?

If they can brainwash us, then there has to be some way to undo it if it wears off after a couple days as punishments. Once we figure that out....I can bring them all back. I have to....

But what if being permanently brainwashed is freedom? Suppose their souls have been liberated from these vessels, and "undoing" the process serves only to trap them here once more.

I've got to agree with you there. People treat them like they're nothing but I say they were just like us once.

Some go as far as killing them in cold blood. It makes me sick.

That definitely makes you wonder how some people think...

The weak interpret morality in whatever way allows them to do what they want.

Even if they aren't entirely... human, it doesn't justify mistreating them.

I quite agree.

Most people do not arrive at this rather obvious conclusion, true. Your reasoning is commendable.

On the other hand, is it a crime when the victim will never realize it happened? Quite the philosophical conundrum, some would argue.

It's not hard to figure out that it's best to avoid resorting to murder if there's even the SLIGHTEST chance that the victim still has a soul.

Oh, you would be surprised how many philosophies would disagree with that. A lot would argue that it would depend on the spiritual allegiance of the soul, or the kind of body it inhabits.

And others, religious ones, would argue that murder would be freeing. I believe some priests from the world Mayfield pretends to be a part of put it this way: "God will sort out his own."
Which, of course, led to assorted atrocities, but that's religion.

Morally bankrupt men exist in all ideologies. That doesn't make them rigiht.

... If they're still real people, then it's well cruel that everybody's goin' 'round killin' 'em like it's nothin'.

That it is.
