Loki was terrific. He even pulled off the ridiculous helmet. I was very glad that they didn't have them in the helmets much. Thor is too pretty to cover half his face with metal LOL
I just wanted to hug him. Loki really worked his helmet, as did Heimdel. I'm very happy that there's already two comms for the movie. Which means fic and art to feed my addiction.
I've got to ask (as I only rarely dipped into the Avengers - I was more of an X-Men girl) how well did it translate to the screen, history-wise? I know that some of the Norse mythology was played around with (Loki being Thor's brother rather than Odin's, for instance, how Odin lost his eye, & of course the 'any sufficiently advanced technology', etc) but I wasn't sure how much of that was inherited from Marvel, & how much was down to the script-writers.
Oh, & interesting fact - my spell-checker, which normally gets crabby over mythological figures, accepted all the Norse names *scratches head*
In the comics the Asgardians do think of themselves as Gods not Aliens. But other than that the movie kept pretty much on target - keeping in mind that 40 years of comics tend to contridict themself over time.
Fandral, Hogun and Volstagg are comic creations and buddies of Thor. The actors looked exactly like the comics - Well except that Volstagg is supposed to weigh about 400 pounds. Even the goofy Helmet Loki was wearing was straight out of the comics. I'm glad that they went helmet-less for Thor, except for the first scene, because Chris is too pretty to cover in a helmet.
Wasn't he, though? I'm not normally fond of blonds, but there was something about him - at least, once he'd had some of the arrogance knocked out of him. I really don't like overgrown kids.
I've got to admit, I was more into Loki. Slim, slightly geeky types are more my cup of tea. Add in actual brains & he was hot - although the ever-so slight nervous breakdown when he worked out he was a frost giant was a bit off-putting.

I've never read a comic book of any sort - well other than Star Wars - didn't stop me.
