He cuts himself off, unsure of whether or not Dean would want him using a fake name. There doesn't seem to be any harm in being honest here, though.

"Sorry about him." she continues, turning to the newcomer and smiling apologetically. "Are you new?" She's gotten pretty good at picking out the newcomers, actually; the general air of shell-shocked confusion is sort of a giveaway, even if the new guy's doing a decent job of hiding it.
