Congratulations! This is going to work out great, you'll see!
My husband objected to having cleaners come in even when we had tons of money rolling in from our combined incomes. At least I finally managed to convince him to have cleaners come in before our big parties, since we were doing all the cooking and setting up. I was totally willing to part with the cash -- I hate cleaning, I'm not good at it, and my husband wasn't particularly fond of it either. He just thought everyone should clean up after their own mess. Someday when I am rich again (ha!) I am going to hire cleaners. Every two weeks is a better schedule than every month, because it will take them less time.
That makes sense with the cleaning. Danae really doesn't like to clean and isn't terribly good at it. For me, it's satisfying to do sometimes, but some things are less enjoyable to do than others. I hate scrubbing the bathtub, for instance. That's been a lot better since we fixed the issue making the water drain slowly, but still. (And then people don't always clean out the hair catcher, so we get standing water again. But anyway...)
And once a lot more of my time is going to work, time outside of work will be that much more precious. Even if it's work I really enjoy most of.
Congratulations!! This is very cool ... and a perfect workplace for you, besides. :)
And don't feel too badly about the dog-walking thing ... it's just the way the everyday world works. You're handling the transition very responsibly, I'm sure better than most of their contractors would.
