Something was horribly wrong. For a moment, Gin didn't understand what he was seeing. His clock reflected a time at him that was... unusual. And wrong. He usually woke up a few hours earlier than what it was showing him right now for the simple fact that he could never sleep through the morning rituals of Ukitake. Oh the man was quiet enough and if he'd had a particularly exhausting night he could doze right on through it but he usually tended to wake up right as the tea pot whistled. Just a brief moment of wakefulness that he could easily disregard. Which was why when he saw his clock now, for the first time this morning, something in his brain groggily nagged at him that something wasn't right ( ... )

He slept like a rock, really - or at least, up to this point. Habits instilled by the Gotei still remained even after a year out; and the unusual sound of the light knock was enough to wake him up again.

...Or try to, anyway. The world felt like it was under an odd, chilly sort of film when he finally noticed it - and, as his mind tried to catch up with the strangeness of it, he found he couldn't quite decipher what the person on the other side of the door was saying.

"Ah...Sentaro...?"

It was muttered a bit blearily, and - oh, dear. What if it was Kiyone? That would probably jump-start an argument if nothing else did...ah, that was going to be troublesome...

With a sigh, he shifted - but only managed to roll over about halfway. The strange weakness pinned him down still, like an all-around weight...

Through the thinness of the door he heard shuffling and a barely audible murmur. Well that's one kind of answer. He thought idly as he ceased knocking and leaned against the wall, rubbing his eyes.

"Are you okay?" He inquired, smothering a yawn and resisting the urge to stretch for the moment. Now that he knew Ukitake wasn't dead, his concern seemed silly, even if the nagging voice persisted that something was wrong.

Okay? Okay...hm, how strange. Usually a fervent, overtly eager offering of tea came first ( ... )
