Well, hope you don't mind~ fridgevigilante July 10 2010, 19:20:53 UTC
Rorschach was by no means a tall person. Especially not for a person that was supposed to be a grown man, for he had just... Stopped growing somewhere on the way. Also: He didn't care at all for that female occupying this one corner of the library as he strode by the shelf.

Science. Yes. Not exactly this kind of science, though. All these technological stuff was more something Daniel would have found interest in. Rorschach was more interested in that kind of science that circled around biological means. Usually alien anatomy. To find out more about all these creatures and how to work with them effectively.

And yet again, that wasn't why he had come here this time. No. He was here to look up information about the human brain. This almost permanent headache he had ever since that Polly-woman had done... Whatever she had done back then... It just wouldn't fade. And he kept getting these memories that just weren't his. It was annoying. It kept him from getting some proper sleep. He needed to get rid of it ( ... )

Noticing the man, Azula gave him a once over. Was he taller than her? Yes, but not by all that much. He probably wouldn't be able to reach the book himself, so there was no point in asking.

Turning back to the shelf, she carefully stepped up onto the lowermost shelf, hoping that it could hold her weight for the time that she needed to grab that book.

The masked man was about to get around the end of the shelf, when he noticed the female's action - And stopped to give it a critical look. The way she had her foot on that board was not one of secure footing. Neither was the way she held onto the shelf itself. This was promising too much to end with a slip, a fall, and countless books on the floor. A mess.

For a moment Rorschach just tilted his head. Then he growled "Amateur." raising his voice, yet keeping the growl, he pointed towards one of the nearby chairs "Take off shoes. Use that."

Yes. When you're short you either know the tricks... Or you are good at gymnastics.

The "amateur" comment annoyed her. So what if she didn't have much experience with climbing bookshelves? Obviously, she put her talents to far better use.

"I'm not taking off my shoes in public."

Bruce had been trolling around the library, getting back into the swing of things easily despite all that had happened in the past month. All things considered, he had experienced weirder, and that was no excuse to fall behind on his research.

He reached the end of one shelf and turned round the corner to look at the other side only to bump into a pile of books near one of the chairs, knocking them over. He bent down to grab the book and glanced at the covers. Interesting subjects- he wondered what she was planning.

"Doing some light reading?" he asked casually, holding the book he had picked up towards the girl.

Azula took it with a light "thank you"; she was clearly more interested in the book than she was in the person standing in front of her.

Then again...

"I am. I'm interested in how this ship and others like it are run, as a matter of fact. I don't suppose you'd know anything about that...?"

Had she run into the right person. He had designed and funded two separate space ships for the League in his day. Not that he was going to flaunt that information, of course.

"This one specifically? You're not going to find much. The crew are incredibly secretive. We can't even get a proper look at the engine."

Azula drummed her fingers on the cover of the book she was currently focusing on, a detailed history of human space travel. "That's not a surprise," she said dryly. "In that case, people are more likely to be helpful than books."

A day off from work and she's already burying herself in study. No interest to get stuck with some lame duck job next month, she's decided to start working back to her major on Earth.

The library is expansive and it takes a while to maneuver around to find all the sections she needs. The collection of books Naomi is gathering are all notably thick; Anatomy, biology, chemistry, medical studies... she walks over to the sciences section. Obviously, there would be new pathogens to study here; what would this section have to offer?

"Hm..."

Now that she thought about it, she needed to find any of the latest forensic books and take those back to her room for further practice.

Azula noticed the other girl walk in, and glanced up for a moment before looking back down at the book she was currently reading.

Well, if there's one thing, it's the fact there are several hundred biographical books on scientists from around the various worlds. This is not going to help. She halts skimming over the bindings as she notices a girl out of the corner of her eye and turns her head. Perhaps she would know...

"Pardon me, but have you happened to come across any books pertaining specifically to pathogens or genetic research?"

"Medical books?" Azula frowned. "No, I haven't."

The Doctor wasn't what you'd call short, but he wasn't the tallest Time Lord out there either. Not that there were many Time Lords left to compare him to because well, there weren't. But still, he was quite adept at getting things - books in particular - from hard to reach spots.

He'd only been in the library shortly when he spotted a familiar face. Her name was lost to him, but he remembered her. The Princess from another land where they didn't have mobiles! Hard to forget someone like that. He made his way towards her wondering just what had brought her here as well.

"Having a bit of trouble?" he quipped as he came near enough to pick up one of the books she had placed in her pile.

"Thank you, but I'm all right now," she responded, giving a quick wave of the hand. "Though I hope you're planning on putting that book back when you're through; I haven't gotten to it yet, and it looks like it could be useful."

"Space travel?" he replied, taking a look at the subject of the book. He flipped through a few of the pages casually; this didn't seem like something anyone with a passing interest would be taking a look at. "I see someone's been doing their homework."

"I'm not likely to find anything too useful here," Azula said flippantly, with a slight shrug. "But my world isn't yet anywhere near as technologically advanced as others that are represented here, so I'd like to catch myself up as much as possible." It was a good thing she was relatively intelligent, and had a strong memory-- she'd been cramming a lot into her head over the past few days.

Hope was five feet tall.

.... yeah.

Still, he was in the library anyway, for much the same reason as Azula. He still hadn't given up on looking for a map. It was a task that Lightning had entrusted him with after all. There was no way he was giving up.

So he was passing through the sciences section when he saw a familiar figure huffing in front of a shelf.

"... Azula?"

Hearing the familiar voice, Azula looked up immediately. Excellent. Just the person she wanted to speak with.

"Hope." She gave a nod in greeting. "I was hoping we'd meet in person soon. I have things I want to discuss with you."

"Yeah," he said, nodding back. "I had the day off so I was looking to find a way to escape. I guess that's why you're here too?"

"Yes, but I don't think I'm going to find anything concrete here. I'm more interested in background information."
