Well, hope you don't mind~ fridgevigilante July 10 2010, 19:20:53 UTC
Rorschach was by no means a tall person. Especially not for a person that was supposed to be a grown man, for he had just... Stopped growing somewhere on the way. Also: He didn't care at all for that female occupying this one corner of the library as he strode by the shelf.

Science. Yes. Not exactly this kind of science, though. All these technological stuff was more something Daniel would have found interest in. Rorschach was more interested in that kind of science that circled around biological means. Usually alien anatomy. To find out more about all these creatures and how to work with them effectively.

And yet again, that wasn't why he had come here this time. No. He was here to look up information about the human brain. This almost permanent headache he had ever since that Polly-woman had done... Whatever she had done back then... It just wouldn't fade. And he kept getting these memories that just weren't his. It was annoying. It kept him from getting some proper sleep. He needed to get rid of it.

Which meant, he had to do some research. Find something. Find a way to undo this and another way to deal with some immortal woman that on top of it all could also read his very thoughts!

So here he was once more. Visiting a library. Again.

And it still felt wrong.

nope! :D peoplesprincess July 10 2010, 19:25:33 UTC
Noticing the man, Azula gave him a once over. Was he taller than her? Yes, but not by all that much. He probably wouldn't be able to reach the book himself, so there was no point in asking.

Turning back to the shelf, she carefully stepped up onto the lowermost shelf, hoping that it could hold her weight for the time that she needed to grab that book.

The masked man was about to get around the end of the shelf, when he noticed the female's action - And stopped to give it a critical look. The way she had her foot on that board was not one of secure footing. Neither was the way she held onto the shelf itself. This was promising too much to end with a slip, a fall, and countless books on the floor. A mess.

For a moment Rorschach just tilted his head. Then he growled "Amateur." raising his voice, yet keeping the growl, he pointed towards one of the nearby chairs "Take off shoes. Use that."

Yes. When you're short you either know the tricks... Or you are good at gymnastics.

The "amateur" comment annoyed her. So what if she didn't have much experience with climbing bookshelves? Obviously, she put her talents to far better use.

"I'm not taking off my shoes in public."

"Right." he snorted back, tilting his head to the other side in the faintest gesture of mockery before adding in a sharp tone "Female. Obviously cannot risk being seen with incomplete outfit."

Azula rolled her eyes. "It has nothing to do with fashion. It's just inappropriate. We're in a public building."

Or a spaceship. Same difference.

Rorschach would roll his eyes as well, but she wouldn't see that anyway, due to his mask. So he went with a fairly casual shrug "Doesn't matter. If public location places public books in unreachable height, use public furniture. Simple."

I was looking for a ladder," she explained.

Another snort "And ladder refused to come by itself, obviously."

Rolling his shoulders, he marched over to her and tossed a glance upwards, his hands kept deep within his pockets "Which one?"

She pointed. "That one; the red one. And for the record, I was hardly waiting for anything to come on its own; I looked and there didn't seem to be one around, and I wasn't going to go on some big hunt when I could have just tried climbing up myself."

Honestly, what was it with this place and rude people? Plenty had been perfectly polite, of course, but there had also been several who had been insolent.

"And risk tearing down entire shelf. Clever." the vigilante said grimly while looking up and for the mentioned book. Not many red books up there, so it wasn't that hard to make out. The rest was mere practice to a man that had over 35 years experience of climbing up entire buildings or structures even more fragile than a bookshelf.

Within mere moments he was up the wooden furniture, finding just the right places to put a foot or get hold with a hand on the loose hanging boards. It was like breaking fingers. If you knew what to look for how to hold onto them everything else was simple.

The book was dropped unceremonically into the woman's hands, shortly before the vigilante himself dropped to the floor next to her with a partly muffled grunt. He gave the book a second look, the frown hidden behind layers of latex and shifting fluids "Unwomanly literature."

"Don't be ridiculous, I was being careful," she snapped. "And I hardly see how a book about space travel is 'unwomanly', considering where we are right now." The Fire Nation was actually very progressive in terms of its gender relations; the idea that some people might consider her out of place as a proactive leader didn't really occur to her.

"Hrrn. Saw that. Grace of an elephant." Rorschach remarked gruffly and stuffed his hands back into their assigned pockets before nodding towards the book once more "Physics. Not exactly topic many women find interest in. Requires logic. Mathematics. Precision. Little room for variations. Modifications. Creativity."

Of course he didn't mention, that this wasn't quite his field either. And if he was aware of his own contrariness right there, he didn't show it.

"I don't see why women wouldn't have interest in physics and the like," she retorted. "My father's top science adviser is a woman."

"Still, doesn't happen often."

In fact, this woman would be the first the vigilante would know that showed interest in any of this. Not even among Veidt's scientist had he never noticed any females.

Azula gave a loud exhale, clearly annoyed. "Yes, it does."
