Marietta had been looking forward to the Quidditch day. While she didn't play and didn't even much enjoy flying, she had always cheered for her house team at school, and she understood the game well enough to be able to follow it. The fact that a great many attractive men played Quidditch probably had something to do with her excitement as well. Friday evening she had made chocolate cheesecake and raspberry sauce, the dessert for the basket that she would share with whoever grabbed the "bonnet" she was offering. She'd bought the hat in Exeter, hoping that it would appeal to a man; that made more sense, she thought, than putting up something frilly and girly if she wanted a man to grab it. Getting up early Saturday morning, she assembled the rest of the items for her basket, which was a real picnic basket also bought in Exeter. In addition to cheesecake and raspberry sauce, Marietta had made pita sandwiches stuffed with a chicken-and-vegetable mixtures in a mustard sauce and a fruit salad with a lime/honey/cayenne sauce; she'd also ( ... )

Laughing a little at the exuberant introduction and call for people to provide for the Bonnet, Bandana, Basket and Broom race - Lavender wondered whether that was meant to be a bit of a mouthful or if it was just her - Lavender made her way over to the finish line to hand over her hat. She was fairly sure Ron would remember which was hers, having shown him back at her flat. She was looking forward to a nice picnic with Ron, especially as the sun was actually shining for once.

He'd left for the Quidditch day before her, leaving Lavender to finish preparing the picnic basket, which she'd planned with Ron in mind. There was always the possibility that someone else would get her hat, but she had her fingers crossed that Ron would do well in the race.

But... what if someone else did get her 'bonnet'? And Ron got someone else's? Would Ron go and have lunch with them? Oh, it was just silly for her to start worrying about something as stupid as that. She had faith in Ron and his abilities, even if he was nervous about the race ( ... )

Justin exploded two tacos before finally setting the heating charm on his food properly. He was normally well versed in those charms, having been using them loads during his travels, but he was rushing and could never get that last flick of the wand right when he was in a hurry ( ... )

Parvati made her way to the Bonnet, Bandana, Basket and Broom race after asking a few vaguely familiar people for directions. She was counting on seeing Lavender there, perhaps they could watch it together? The first thing she did was to hand over her scarf,

"Parvati!" Lavender waved as she spotted her friend, grinning as she made her way over to where Parvati was sitting on a blanket.

"Hey, you," she said, setting herself down next to Parvati. "You here by yourself?"

Parvati grinned as she heard Lavender call her name, waving in response.

"Not any more," she said, giving Lavender a one-armed hug. "But I spent a bit of time earlier with Dean. He'll be racing soon, I think."

"Oh, Dean's racing, is he?" Lavender raised her eyebrows, intrigued by that. "Does that mean you've put in a basket? Ron's racing, too, so I've been making a picnic for us. I've just got to hope that King Weasley gets my hat!"

She looked over to where the bonnets and scarves and things were put up, mouth hanging open slightly as she saw a wizard strip off and offer up his shirt. "Oh my."

Dennis had wandered a bit with Fleur, until they caught up with Oliver. Wishing Oliver luck, Dennis quite happily left the two of them to explore together.

He quite liked people watching and unlike some, he wasn't a recognizable figure so he didn't draw that much attention.

Eventually he made his way to the Bonnet, Bandana, Basket and Broom race and pulled the turquiose bandana from his picnic basket. He'd only wore it once, but he had laundered it anyway. Hoping whoever got his basket, if anyone did, that they'd enjoy the food (melon wrapped in proscuitto, roasted potatoes tossed in herbs, banquette sandwich of roasted peppers and feta, guadruple chocolate brownies, and lemonaid with berries to drink), he handed the blue fabric over along with the basket and went to find a good place to observe.
