His smile widened a little when she leaned forward and kissed his cheek. He waited for her to step back so he could walk out and shut the door firmly behind him. The vampire hadn't been smiling much for the last few days, so being in Narcissa's presence had certainly heightened his mood.

"Yes, of course."

He gave a small bow of his head and closed his eyes as she slid her arm through the crook of his and Disapparated them to the street. Sanguini's eyes opened and he glanced around.

"Where do you wish to walk tonight?"

"An observatory..." Sanguini considered that for a moment. "Yes, I believe I do."

He began going north on Copper Street, mapping the way in his head to make sure that he didn't miss a turn.

"I haven't actually visited it myself, but I have seen it on several walks of mine. I don't think I've actually ever stared at the stars with any kind of mechanism beside my own eyes. I am sure I will enjoy it."

Sanguini smiled softly.

"So what have you been occupied with as of late, my dear? I have been doing work at the museum and thinking far too much, but not much beyond that."

"I must say that I tend to vary to extremes when it comes to protecting my mind. There are years when my thoughts were so tightly guarded I could barely access them, and others where there is naught. I will practice if it will make you feel at ease. Surely I can find a balance."

Sanguini smiled, baring his fangs.

"Shallow? Oh, you're horribly shallow, my dear, always taking time out of our walks to look in the mirror and make sure your hair is absolutely perfect and there isn't a stitch out of place."

He chuckled.

"And I know you have feelings, Narcissa. Being guarded is not the same as feeling nothing at all."

"I am unable to use any type of magic myself, so Occumency is closed to me in a sense, although there are other ways I can protect my mind. And while it is possible for someone to imitate you using a potion, they would have to be extremely skilled in mimicking your mannerisms. The little things stand out like flashing lights to me. Simply copying your appearance would not be enough to trick me."

Sanguini smiled when Narcissa laughed.

"I promise to keep the wicked truths I have discovered to myself." He smiled. "And I am not really concerned with convincing others. You cannot teach the blind to see, after all."

"Oh, yes, I am aware of that."

The smallest smile came to his lips.

"I doubt anyone could sway you if you did not wish to be swayed, Narcissa. And do not be concerned for me overmuch. I have dealt with Josephine for over four centuries, and there is little she can do that she has not already done."

Sanguini chuckled when Narcissa suddenly disappeared from view into the darkness. Raising an eyebrow, Sanguini followed her, his hearing and the fact that he could see in the dark making it relatively easy for him to give chase. He stopped in front of her when she paused at the staircase, and he grinned, baring his fangs.

"Trying to get away from me, darling?"
