These magnificent posters are from the Library of Congress’
‘Prints & Photographs Online Catalog’ They were commissioned by the Austro-Hungarian government during World War One to encourage Austrian citizens to subscribe to Kriegsanleihen or ‘War Loans’.
These two were made by Thomas Fasche. The artist managed to present war propaganda in the beautiful Art Nouveau style.
Many of the posters feature medieval knighhood (fighting dragons and saving princesses for the glory of the Austro-Hungarian Empire) :
