"Reeve?" Ciel was finishing a third attempt at the multitude of buttons on his thin chiffon blouse. "That..that would be ok."

He was so used to having everything done for him. It seemed he couldn't even dress himself properly. He sat on the bed, mostly but messily dressed. He'd put a run in one of his stockings trying to get it on.

He held his arm and looked towards the door trying to hide his embarrassment at appearing so unrefined.

"I appreciate you going through the trouble of finding me. I wish I had some tea to offer you." He made a funny face thinking that was an awkward thing to say as they weren't exactly back home in his sitting room.

Reeve stepped in slowly, leaving the door cracked open behind him. "It's not any trouble. I know where most of the cells are, and it wasn't hard to find yours. I'm just sorry I wasn't able to get to you last night." He smiled, taking a seat on the lone chair in the room and putting the stuffed patchwork rabbit on his shoulder down on the desk.

"Don't worry about it. Though if you want tea, I think there's a way to get some... I'll have to ask Edgeworth." Reeve leaned back in the chair, propping his useless arm up on his knee and looking the boy over. The poor kid looked frightened, a mess, but that was to be expected. Not that Reeve looked any better, as battered and bruised as he was.

After a moment he dug into his coat pocket and pulled out the bandages and ointment he'd brought, laying them on the table as well. The stuffed rabbit turned its head to look at them, then looked back up, ears twitching. "How are you feeling this morning? I know this place is... well, a pretty miserable place to wake up to."

"Not great." Ciel admitted. "I'd love some tea, have some one bring some...if it's not too much trouble."

Another strange formation of words to be coming out of his mouth. Ciel didn't really know how to react to someone being kind, everyone had an ulterior motive or was bound by duty. That was how he knew the world worked.

He couldn't help but notice the stuffed rabbit and instinctively reached for it. "Is that your work, it's quite good. Do you make toys?"

"I imagine not, after the wounds you got yesterday. I didn't quite see it all... where were you hit?" Bringing him tea might be a bit hard, but Reeve figured if all else failed, he could appeal to that rather creepy nurse, Joshua... the one who giggled all the time. "And I'll try to get you some tea. It might take me a bit of time, though."

How odd, that the boy was so formal. Could it be a reaction to the environment? Or, as it was with Reeve, was he still thinking uncomfortably of the previous day's therapy? "Yes and no. I didn't make the stuffed animal, but--"

"but he made m' come t' life. Magic an' all tha'." Cait tilted his head, awkwardly waving a plush paw at Ciel. There was no objections from him in being picked up, just a twitch of his ears. "Er, mebbe not magic. We ain' really figured out how he does it yet. Anyways~ 'm Cait Sith, I am! Ain' usu'lly in a bunny suit, but they didn' lemme keep m' real body when I got here."

Reeve sighed, watching Cait and finally chuckling softly when he stopped talking. "... what he said."

Ciel held the little bunny and for a just a moment, his uncovered eye held the spark of enchantment. "What an amazing thing you are."

In the next moment, the thick veneer of being proper and practical blocked the growing whimsy. The boy set the rabbit down as if it were painful to hold and turned his attention to Reeve.

"I have a pretty nasty burn," he rolled up his sleeve to show the wound on his left arm, "It hurts even when this light fabric brushes against it."

He shifted a little nervously, the idea of a complete stranger wanting to help him was at best confusing. He hoped he was right about Reeve being a nice man. He took a deep breath and turned to show Reeve the extent of the burn.

"Those things you said last night...how terrible for them to happen to you so young. And yet, you still make eh summon things such as that little rabbit. You must be very strong of heart."

Cait preened under the attention; his button eyes would have been glowing if it were possible. "'m e'en more amazin' in m' real body! This ain' nothin ( ... )

The ointment was cool. A stark contrast to how bad it had hurt while he'd tried to sleep. "I don't like people touching me." Ciel decided it was either keep talking and get the mess of thoughts out of his mind; or start crying again which he hated doing in any circumstance.

"I don't encounter many who understand me. Granted, I don't usually just announce my sordid past because I don't believe it will come out as anything but an improper ploy for pity. I admit I play games with people's minds but not those kind. Never those kind."

He'd revealed his back and he wondered if Reeve could see it, the branding from two years ago. The memory of metal burning flesh was very real and the burn last night had invited the worst sort of recollected dreams. It was odd that he couldn't remember exactly where the brand had been put just how it had made his whole body feel like it had been set ablaze. "If you've noticed the mark and are curious, yes, that was part of what happened when I was ten."

It didn't take long to coat the smaller wound; the brand had drawn his attention in that Reeve wasn't certain how recent it was, and if it too would need treatment. Instead of interrupting Ciel as he spoke, he simply listened closely. Better to let him get it out than to badger him with unnecessary questions. "... I wasn't going to ask," he said. "I know scars can be personal. It's your choice whether to divulge that information or not ( ... )

Ciel's hand moved to where Cait Sith had fallen. He picked him up again and sort of snuggled him against his leg. "I can put you back up on the table if you'd prefer ( ... )

Cait merely shook his head in the negative, quite happy to be petted. "... I don't know. I've seen it work for others, to talk and confront their own pain, but I've never had to do it before myself. But...." Reeve ran a hand over his beard, trying to figure out how to put it. "Therapy. As much as it hurt... as humiliating as it was to admit it, in front of so many people... it helped. A little. To admit it to myself instead of constantly trying to deny it ( ... )
