If you ever come across something like this http://www.etsy.com/listing/56935653/reduced-long-sleeve-1950s-heavy-pink in a MODERN size 12 with 17 inch shoulder measurements, would you please let me know?

I've been searching for this style for AGES! Did women back then take something to stunt their growth? Why is vintage so TINY? *sobs*

I'll keep an eye out. I've got some 60's stuff in that size, but nothing 50's. That dress is amazing. It's the heaviest satin I've ever handled. But yeah. It was tight even on my size 4 model. Modern-human-size lady's vintage is super-hard to find. Maybe they kept less of it in their closets for decades?

I find it hard to believe that people were not my size back then! Where is all the vintage? (read that in the voice of "Why is all the rum gone?!"

One thought is that women often had their best clothing "cut down" by a professional seamstress to fit their daughters. My mom did that with a few cocktail dresses, and so did my grandma.
