TeslaCon II

Nov 28, 2011 00:29

I've posted some TeslaCon II photos here.  I feel like I really should up my game, clothing-wise and gadget-wise.

What time I managed to spend at the con, I enjoyed.  I did get to a few panels (Steampunk cookery; Steampunk vs. Neo-Victorian; Scientists, Inventors, & Naturalists), and I relaxed in the tea room a couple of times, and I saw a bit of ( Read more... )

I personally don't think persona or 'first person' re-enactment/ LARPing is a prerequisite for immersion. For some people it makes it easier to avoid anachronism if they have a character they must play, but it isn't for everyone :) However, it is a form that is highly popularised in the US so in some places persona has become synonymous with immersion.

Anyhow, glad you had a fun weekend, it sounds like a great time :)

Fair point: not everyone who was immersed was playing a character.

So glad you liked the tea room! I try so very hard to please. Let me know if you have a favourite kind of biscuit, and I'll do my best to have a stash of them just for you. ;-)

Lord Bobbins tried very hard to get the entire hotel for the con this year, and the management was not as forthright as they should have been about other parties engaging the facilities, but I believe that has been corrected with the change in venue for next year.

As to having the con downtown, there are no hotels large enough that we could afford and still provide the same quality event. It is a dilema.

I am glad you had a good time this year! Just wait until you see what His Lordship has in store for us next time, I'm giddy at the thought!

In service,

the Tea Lady

Relaxing in the tea room is just so...civilized. Irish breakfast tea would be nice, or Darjeeling, but it's not necessary; I was quite happy.

I'm confident that Lord Bobbins is doing all that can reasonably be done (and likely a little more than that) to make it a good con. I would have liked to make it to the post-con panel, but had to leave early on Sunday.

I wonder if enough attendees would be interested in an outing to Madison downtown. Or Sector67.
