I would keep the lines of this fabulous dress clean; no jacket or shawl.

Just a steamy necklace and a great big hat with lots of voile and feathers and some gears. Like you were a fancy traveller on one of those big airships.

Boots would have to be dainty, indeed.

I second keeping the dress clean without a jacket or shawl...it's beautiful!

Yep, big fluffy plumes of feathers, some pearls, some little gears worked into it....

Congratulations on the upcoming nuptials, by the by!

thankyou! and i agree, i'm probably not going to have anything around the shoulders simply because i love the cut of this dress too much. tho if i did, it would be a shawl, because it'll be march, haha.

the necklace is kind of a big issue for me right now, as i am really biting the bit over where to find one that will be perfect. i would LOVE to do the great big hat, but man are they expensive :(
boots have become a bit of an issue too since i have wide feet and am having difficulties finding suitable footwear.

For jewelry, I would go for something that has antique gold as the metal or maybe even an actual antique piece -- something with patina. The crystal necklace they have on the mannequin is not quite right for the dress, in my opinion.

As for the gloves, I agree that you shouldn't tea-dye them yourself, but look for a pair in the color you want. Tea dyeing is really unpredictable and can be uneven, and if you want classy, then you don't want blotchy gloves.

I'd also avoid the more overt steampunk touches, like cogs and gears. That's pretty gimmicky, and gimmicky is not classy.

For your head, orange blossom wreaths were really popular throughout the Victorian period and into the 20th century. I would go for a wreath of orange blossoms or other white flowers and a long veil, kind of like these brides from the 1910s/20s. Silk organza would be the easiest fabric to get for the veil. If what you get is too stiff, wash it in cold water and it will get more drapey.

i agree about the necklace on the mannequin; am not going in that direction, however i have been rather torn recently trying to find something that DOES go with it. i'd love to do a lace or pearl choker of some kind, but nothing's been jumping out at me so far :/

i'm not actually doing the tea dying myself, a very nice lady on etsy will be doing that for me to match the dress :)

i have a wreath of flowers that i absolutely love that was custom made for me which is going to be considered for the veil. i knew about the orange blossoms, but this was the closest i could find for my budget X) thankyou for mentioning the organza tho, i wasn't sure yet what to look for with that.

Boots - Yes!!! Forgo the veil and do a fabulous hat! You can do so much with a hat. =) You could add some little things to your flowers, too.

That dress is beautiful! I'd recommend a pretty fascinator with feathers and perhaps a birdcage veil.

perhaps something like this, My friend Bunny makes splendid hats and I think this one would go with the gloves and gown motif quite well.
