Mineral Makeup for Steampunkers

Oct 14, 2009 00:32

I figured, since I cater to a lot of people that partake in steampunk activities, that I would post about my wares here.

I make mineral makeup. It's great for sensitive skin, holds up well in heat and humidity, and won't crease with oily skin.  Everything I sell is handmade by me or my SO.

I had some bad luck with finding out that I'm allergic to BareMinerals. Although, I have some success with mineral products made by other companies. Is there a way for me to try a small enough sample like a dab on the finger, so to see if I am not allergic?

Absolutely - send me your hair and eye color and shipping address to swaller at gmail.com.

I looked up Bare Minerals, and here is what I found: Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Mica, Iron Oxide, Bismuth Oxychloride.

It's that last one - Bismuth Oxychloride - that made you break out. It's notorious for doing so, and I'm really surprised that they would put something like that in there.

Most of the other ingredients you have a near zero chance of breaking out with. I've heard that some people are allergic to Iron Oxides, but I've sold thousands of eyeshadows, and I haven't had a report yet.

Yeah, I don't have a reaction to iron oxide since I used to use it to treat skin problems. Yeah! I had tried it on because it was supposed to be okay for sensitive skin like mine. Boy! Did it surprise me when my skin started to burn.

Question: Do you make/would you make a straight white powder?

Your color range is BEAUTIFUL, by the way.

Are you looking for a matte white powder?

I have to say I find this rather intriguing. I usually shy away from Mineral makeup because it's awfully drab, but there are some very vibrant and beautiful colors you have to choose from. Most sweet :)

You should definitely use the "makeup" tag on this entry. I was actually looking through this comm for mineral makeup two days ago, and found others but not yours. I'm glad you made a post so I can bookmark your site now!
