Please feel free to ignore the following bit and just enjoy the link!!!

Now there is a "gentleman" part way down calling himself "possum". He seems to have some quite singular opinions about our little life choices here. I am NOT saying anyone should flame him ( Read more... )

Though I admit to being tempted to respond to 'Possum' like others here I realized that this only feeds his/her need to be the center of attention by making simplistic and intentionally inflammatory statements and the responses he/she gets from those statements.

Having said that - 'Possum' should go play dead somewhere. Preferably away from the internet or any other mode of communication.

My personal philosophy... brute_force November 8 2008, 02:00:32 UTC
has a great deal to do with balance.
On one hand, Feeding the trolls often makes them more hungry.
On the other, many people act badly because there are not enough consiquences to their action. Something I will gladly remedy with complete lack of anonymity.
Then, there is the Idea of letting a direct insult to my Lady Love go ignored and unanswered, That would be a truly foolish move on my part :)

I most certainly can't fault your response. Insulting the woman of my heart would extract quite a response from me as well. As such I wholeheartedly support your actions. :)

BTW Mods, I am not at all upset with the OP in this but seriously you didn't allow a post I made on GOTH Magazine about some silly pet costumes I found via google that I thought were funny attempts at steampunk costumes because you thought it was standing too close to the drama llama?

And you allow this instead?

I'm just saying... most dogs don't know what steampunk is, much less would ever get upset or their feelings hurt over my post.

.. If people just decide to look at the article and ignore My personal attempt to have others be kind and loving to said possum. I do not suggest anything unkind toward him... he just needs some tea.

Again, totally not about you. I just a slight bit on the "wtf" side of the world when I was told that this article was standing too close to the drama llama. I mean, ya know, unless the mod felt that the ferret in that pic would truly feel insulted by my article.

I've often found that people just don't get any of the hobbies/societies/gatherings that involve dress up. THey just think it's silly. They don't "get it" and they probably won't.

The possum guy is just a troll.

I completely agree with you, purpura and several others upthread. Didn't even bother to read the thread with the troll/rant/what-have-you, although I enjoyed looking at the photo. The technical accomplishment behind some of the steampunk 'wings' I've seen in videos and photos is pretty amazing. da Vincian, even. I also agree that most people think dressing up in costumes is dorky and immature. I find it very hard to explain my love of clothing from bygone eras - it's neither living history nor cosplay nor costume construction. It's just something with which I enjoy tinkering because I love clothing.

I like this, it does sum up the feelings I have of dress :) I am not saying I want to live in these eras, just I like the clothing styles

I believe we missed meeting one another by mere hours, but that you spoke with scarydavedc at the Maryland Renaissance Festival. We both work at the House of Musical Traditions , the shop next to Leather Rose.
Do let us know when you'll be in town again and I'll try to organize a more suitable welcome.
