My dear sweetheart passed away this morning, peacefully, surrounded by family.  She donated her corneas, as they were usable even despite cancer.

Open house all weekend; now the house is filled wtih food, fun, and laughter.  She would be proud.

I'm not sure if I'll stick with it, but for now I'm doing updates on twitter, my username is the same as my gmail account.  Though I don't really like SMS, as I'm not fast at texting, but at least I CAN do updates from my phone if I want to.

Our first meeting with Hospice is this morning between 9 and 10am.  The doc made the referral yesterday.

We are moved into the new place, and we LOVE It!  It's way down in the city, ten minutes from nearly everything- probably not ten minutes from downtown during light traffic, and the Univ of Cinci, the zoo, the museums- they're all really close, and we're right off of two major Interstate highways.  Yet the neighborhood has lots of trees, heavily ( Read more... )

It was a good day Thursday...

Star felt well enough to go to a movie!   And our son Lionheart closed on his house this week, our unit is vacant now, and we have keys and everything!

The movie was great (we went to see "Up"), and she was even able to stay awake through the whole thing.  At one point I asked if she had any pain, so I could help with ( Read more... )

A few updates...

• Star is doing fairly well- we have her pain in MUCH better control now that she's up to 320mg doses (four 80mg tablets) of Oxycontin CR; only in the days after chemo does she need a lot of Dilaudid on top of that.  She's become a huge fan of the programs Desparate Housewives and Scrubs (also US of Tara, Weeds, and she's started on ( Read more... )

-Star is feeling very well this week, she's been doing shockingly well, in fact, compared with even just a few weeks ago.  She's losing weight and not eating as much, which concerns me, but pain has been much better in control in the last two weeks or so.  She had an MRI of her brain on Wednesday, and we have an appointment with the neurosurgeon ( Read more... )

My data connection remains for now; other than that it's been a rough week.  I've committed myself to 24/7 aid and comfort- that is, doing anything possible to minimize discomfort and pain- and I can honestly report that I'm making a huge difference every hour of every day.  My only problem is lack of sleep- it's really hard to do anything ( Read more... )
