Unfortunately, Old Navy is not the worst about this. I will never ever go into an Abercrombie and Finch due to their ad campaigns. Rhuel, (I'm honestly not even sure if I spelt that right. It's a relatively new store around here) sickened me when I went in it. The photos were of all anorexic women. It was disgusting. I turned around and walked right back out
( ... )
I will have to check again, as last I saw (some months ago), my local store only went to a rather small XL. I normally wear XL and theirs was too small for me.
Here in Michigan in the Detroit area, they only carry up to a 16 (last time I looked). Of course, that may be different now. I last looked about 1.5 years ago.
I'm with the two above, I've seen plus sizes in the stores in Sacramento as I've gone shopping multiple times with a plus-sized friend of mine and we've both walked out with armfulls of clothing in our respective sizes.
Other than that, the only reason I'd boycott ON is because their quality is crap. Oh, I still buy stuff from them occasionally, but none of it ever stands up to repeated washings. Of course, I can say the same thing about some of the stuff I've bought at Anthropologie, too... I have a $60 t-shirt from there that pilled like crazy after being washed once. I could get the same quality without the 200% markup at Forever 21, but I digress... ;)
I won't shop at Walmart because their quality is crap. So, I guess I am not missing anything with ON, if their stuff is crap. And the Fresno store seems to not carry plus sizes (or I missed them completely). I only saw XL, and those were too small for me, and in other stores I do wear an XL now.
It's a total toss-up these days as far as quality goes. I have some pieces in my wardrobe that I bought at Forever 21 which are in great shape after a lot of wear and tear, and other pieces from Nordstrom that look like a pill explosion broke out on them after a washing. It's hard to really know what's going to fall apart and what won't these days... Everyone seems to use the cheapest labor and materials possible (don't get me started on serged hems rather than proper hems).
This was all over the big girl boards last year when the announcement was made. At the time, they weren't even offering free shipping on returns. I went ahead and ordered some pants that were on sale for $15 a pair. I matched their measurement charts exactly, but the pants were at least 6" too big in the waist. I gave them to a friend because it wasn't worth it to send them back.
I haven't paid any attention to most boards outside of costuming or gardening, so it was a surprise to me.
And wtf about something being 6" too big??? That makes no sense.
Thanks for the new blog, which looks very interesting, and seems to have interesting links and fashion ideas. I much prefer quality, and definitely need ideas that are closer to my ideas, not trends that flash in the night.

And we have an A&F store that I wont go into because of their displays. I've not heard of Rhuel.

There's an emphasis on quality. It does seem to be geared more to the working in an office, going out on dates kind of girl, though.
