[ A rare sight. Char would be found in the center of the mess hall, hand-typing a small, rather formal-looking letter. It didn't have the White Chalice's insignia on it, but it did have Char's hand-written signature at the bottom. Someone skilled at snooping would be able to read a good amount of it before he noticed; he appeared to be thinking far ( Read more... )

Enter one small dark haired teen. She wasn't really hungry, she was just bored, and there looked like a fun target, Mio's roommate. Yeah he wasn't the lack luster red head, but Mina wasn't around so the rule about talking to guys could be forgotten right?

Sneaking up quietly to a table near him she watched and waited to see if he noticed her.

Char had just finished signing his name to the freshly-typed letter, when his Newtype senses picked up someone at the far end of the room... staring at him.

Oh. It was her, that Witch that served under Mio and had a habit of being nosy... and if he heard correctly from various female staffers, like feeling women's breasts. Char nodded a polite greeting, and waited for the ink to dry.

Char remained polite, being used to having a bit less privacy than he was used to. After all, he lived in a room that had no private place to change clothing, and the fact that the bathroom was shared with various other rooms made it impractical to change in there. This, however, was slightly more personal than his modesty.

"It is a letter of resignation," he said simply. "I might as well get it over with, now that I'm here on the White Chalice."

[Not that Ryo is the kind of person to panic too much about if he was caught snooping. Not like he had any reason to use this information against Char, or even think how for that matter. Though he wasn't opposed to talking to him about it.]

So...

What's this make you now? A free agent?

Something like that.

[ Char didn't mind that he read his letter. It was worth informing his new allies of anyway. ]

Doesn't sound like it'll be too big of a problem. There's a whole debris field between Earth and the Zeon remnants. Though I take it you have a courier to get it to one of the higher-ups?

I still have some friends at Axis. I don't believe any of them have any serious hard feelings, except, perhaps, for Lady Zabi's steward.

[And someone's going to just walk by, eating whatever food is provided by the mess hall.

He can't help but look over Char's shoulders.]

So, cutting off bridges?

I'm not going to serve Haman Karn while she leads Zeon down the same destructive path that the Zabi family did. Even if I did love her.

Heh, I see.

[After a bit more of nomming.]

I guess that means you're working on your own agenda for now, right?

I've always been loyal to Zeon, though not necessarily its leadership. My 'agenda' will always be the independence of spacenoids.

I take it something's up?

You could say that.

[Arching an eyebrow, he headed over, setting his camera down for once.] I take it it has something to do with the conflict in this world.

[ Char sighs. ]

Zeon deserves its independence. All spacenoids do. But I can't stand by while heinous war crimes and the same mistakes of the past are committed to achieve it.

[Cheng was passing by, details from the letter barely noticed in his peripheral vision. He had not met Char before this, and much of the details of the One Year War and Zeon in general were heavily twisted and skewed into something usable by the State. Needless to say this meeting would be....educational]

I was under the impression that the Principality had been all but disassembled in all ways rather than continue in its attempts for dominion over Earth.

You...are the Red Comet are you not? I expected you to be more.....fearsome

[ Char laughed at that. ]

You should have seen Dozle Zabi. He was far more intimidating than I am. Though, to answer your question, a desire for independence is quite the motivator... some just take it too far.

As it happens with all those involved with wars.

[Looked curious now. He had an opportunity to have knowledge on the One Year war that none in the state would have ever gained]

You mentioned a Zabi....Dozle I think. Was it true that you were singlehandedly responsible for ending their rule over Zeon that led to its collapse?

Or did the state make things more different than they appeared to be again.

[The last was muttered more to himself]
