No-... well.. sort of. Depends on how you look at it. I'm not going to use it to kill innocent people if that's what you're asking.

[She seems to recollect herself to give you a completely calm (as far as she can manage) look.]

If I'm going to fight again... I want to be able to have something I can really call my own. Ares Gear... Maria. In the end as far as they got me they were still other people's machines.

I want to see what something I put my heart and soul into can do.

[Mad looked a little unsure now, casting a glance aside.]

Better at...well... what would you call what's going between us anyway?

It's Riotrooper gear. It's a mass-produced version of the Faiz gear; a gift from Trinity City. They were originally only usable by Orphenochs but they've adjusted the design so normal humans can use them.

Are you thinking of going on foot now or...?

No. But it'll help in case I have to leg it. I've been training a lot with the Clan Wolf Elementals. I want to get a leg up and some use out of it if I ever have to take guys on out of the cockpit.

How much trouble do you think it'll give me if I wanna tweak it a little?

Well, they're cheap and we have quite a few spares... so I imagine you could go nuts with fiddling around with them. Could probably lend you a hand too.

Lowe's already got you working on the physical aspects of engineering, I've noticed. That's good. Knowing how to handle the parts and how to maintain them is crucial in this process, after all. You can't just mix and match parts without knowing their compatibility, otherwise pieces will fall off in mid battle or simply not function.

I can't offer a hands-on approach to it like Lowe can, I was never that good at conveying instructions for that sort of thing, but what I can do is teach you the technical aspects of engineering and the design skills needed to create your own one of a kind machine like my Zeta. Lowe's talented, but it's better to divvy things up so that stress levels are kept low. In this way, Lowe can devote himself to teaching you the physical aspects while I can focus on working your creative drive and designing

Resnick pauses in the doorway. He'll probably never get used to seeing armor pop up out of nowhere. And while it doesn't look like it provides anywhere near the protection of an Elemental armor, or even the Inner Sphere suits that imitate it, he has to admit it does have the advantage of being much easier to put on.

"Have you tested the protection on that?"

Its on my to do list. I want to make sure I've got a good feel for it first.

[That and make sure it'll stand up in hazardous environments. But that'll come later.]

Besides... if I get what I've got planned for this thing right... it might give me an extra edge in and out of the cockpit.

[She fiddles about with the keypad once more - a different combination than the first. There's a flicker near the side of the belt - there's now a weapon hanging off of it now - an odd hybrid of gun and dagger. Mad draws the weapon from its slot and tests its balance.]

He doesn't know how he feels about that. The BTverse has the acronym PBI-poor bloody infantry-for a reason.

No. Its not that I'm getting out of the pilot's seat.... Its more that I get the feeling there'll be times I'll be forced out of it to fight.

[True, just look at how often the Chalice gets raided and filled with enemy troops.]
