I started rereading Fairy Tail and am up to chapter 24 and I'm sad because I'm very very sure it's gonna fall into generic shonen cliche soon enough. Right now it's perfect: fun characters, humor, and the battles are at a decent length of 3-4 chapters each. That's fine. I love it as it is, no need to change. ...Er, well, character development ( Read more... )

Actually, it doesn't, I feel. I'm only a few months behind on recent chapters and such, but there are plenty of arcs and at most, they're about 30+ each once you get to later ones. *even checked the story arcs on the Fairy Tail wiki~* Plus there are multiple fights within each arc because this guy actually knows how to spread the wealth and give nice developments for them all, unlike Kubo.

Plus there isn't anything like introducing thirteen billion new characters every ten chapters. It's much easier to keep track of people. And they aren't all going, "Urrrgh, need to get stronger in three days!"-->*TRAINING MONTAGE WHERE THEY DO GET STRONGER IN THREE DAYS*-->"Rawr I kicked your ass!"-->*along comes a bad guy who's just that much stronger than you and kicks YOUR ass instead*-->"Rargh, need to get stronger...", rinse and repeat. Nope, not in Fairy Tail.

Thank goodness. If I have to suffer through another Aizen I'ma gonna choke something. There are compelling, powerful enemies that you want the heroes to win against at all costs. Bleach...does not have these. All wins just feel like asspulls.
