It's a small world after all

One thing I liked about travelling abroad was that I was unlikely to see any of the people I encountered on a day-to-day basis again. Yes, I LIKED that, because meeting entirely new people every day was fun and interesting, as much as I like constants of friendship in my life as well. When I returned home to Lethbridge, it wasn't long before the ( Read more... )

Lies! I knew that you knew Deb. You know? ha ha
As soon as Deb said she was into horses, I asked if she knew you :P

We totally have six degrees of separation. Every person you know here, you know through at least 6 other people! :)

Hmm, now that I think about it, I did know that you knew that I knew her! But not until that night! I went on a night ride with her tonight... it was awesome. :D

Reverse six degrees of separation!

The prairie horse community is a very very small world. I know someone who just sold their pony, Quinn, to someone at that stable (the person who sold Quinn owns the only primarily english tack shop in town, and put Sampson's poster up in her store). And yes, I know Tori and Shelby well. Their mom works for the health district. They bought a TB called "Big Tuff" (because there used to be a little Tuff) from someone else at our Barn, I think it was for Tori. Shelby I think just got a pony of some kind, we haven't met it yet.

See, remember when I breached the LJ/FB barrier and I said nobody would think anything of it because there's too much chance we'd have met somewhere "legit," like a horse show, rather than LJ or anything equally sekrit? Now you see, it's true. :P

Ah, interesting! And yes, if we hadn't "met" on LJ, we probably would have met in real life at some point, haha -- as it is, we don't even live in the same province and we only have one degree of separation...

Stuff like that happens to me all the time! I just found out that the girl who I replaced at one of my jobs (where I commute an hour to...) was not only someone that I went to high school with, but the sister of my friend Kevin, AND this girl knows the husband of a girl I work with at my OTHER job.

This stuff happens to me all the time, I HATE IT.

It used to be funny, but now I'm not even surprised when I find out that people I meet already know another of my friends. One of the reasons I am looking forward to moving is kind of to start over with a new batch of people who are very unlikely to know anyone I know!

Another one just happened! Just found out that my friend John, who I used to drive carriages with, knows the cousin of Maggie and Jake Gyllenhaal. This girl also was in the same high school class in NYC with my college roommate. Wtf!

Woah, that's a gooder! I always get this sensation of the world caving in when I find that many connections.

I just found another one too, but I'll put it in a new post since it's connected to the goings-on this past weekend!

Sounds like Adelaide. There's no such thing as anything more than two degrees of separation there, either ( ... )

Hahah, that was a complicated one, but I think I get it!

As for your ex's half sister... did you just meet her in the shops and think she was cool, so invited her to the party? And THEN you found out that you went to high school with her, and she found out that you had married her half brother? :p

I sort of recognised her, started talking to her and then realised I went to high school with her. It wasn't until the party that I found out she was related to my husband.
