Could they just please get off the Palin bashing? HEY! Chris Matthews!Keith Olbermann! Your side won. You can stop trashing her now. Maybe now that their candidate is safely in office, some of the feminists will speak out against some of the unfair criticism. Policy criticism is NOT unfair. Her cloths (that she didn't buy)is unfair. How much did ( Read more... )

I LOVE it! I just can't understand why people don't understand that both sides really want the best for our country. We disagree what "the best" is but not the goal of getting it.

Well, sometimes the different visions of "the best" are so radically different that if I get my "best" you get your "just tolerable" or even "intolerable" and vice versa. It's hard to see beyond that to see the shared goal.

But when people are willing to talk and work together in good faith there's always a way that will address concerns and meet needs so that we can have a mutually agreeable solution and both of us get our "acceptably good".

But then, I'm a total optimist. :D

I think the key is everyone has to be willing to compromise. I know "gay marriage" was voted down in three states last week, but I think they would have passed a "civil unions" bill. Is it perfect for those who believe in gay marriage? No. But, once again, the perfect was the enemy of the good ( ... )

I will agree with you that it's time for the tear-downs to stop. I'm perfectly happy to see Palin return to her state and worry about her in another 4 or 8 years. But I will point out that the reason Palin's wardrobe became such an issues was because it was paid for by campaign funds, not personal funds, which in general terms, the campaign itself probably had the rights to disburse as they saw fit to make sure their VP candidate was dressed in a matter befitting her station. That Palin extended and increased that allotment to include much of her immediate family instead of using her own funds is why people on the left and the right got up in her face about it ( ... )

I wasn't even talking about the clothes. LOL. I can't even remember what snide comment of Chris Matthews annoyed me that day. I used to like Chris Matthews as a journalist until this election cycle. It's not because he is a Democrat, because I lost respect for him during the Democratic primary when he was so clearly favoring Obama over Clinton. For the record, I much preferred Obama to Clinton. I'm not bitter or even disappointed over the election results. Even if you were an ardent McCain supporter (which I wasn't, I respect him deeply, but I was never over the top for him) when you saw Jesse Jackson with tears streaming down his face and remember that he was with Martin Luther King Jr on the day he died you have to apprectiate what this election means to our nation ( ... )
