Could they just please get off the Palin bashing? HEY! Chris Matthews!Keith Olbermann! Your side won. You can stop trashing her now. Maybe now that their candidate is safely in office, some of the feminists will speak out against some of the unfair criticism. Policy criticism is NOT unfair. Her cloths (that she didn't buy)is unfair. How much did ( Read more... )

I will agree with you that it's time for the tear-downs to stop. I'm perfectly happy to see Palin return to her state and worry about her in another 4 or 8 years. But I will point out that the reason Palin's wardrobe became such an issues was because it was paid for by campaign funds, not personal funds, which in general terms, the campaign itself probably had the rights to disburse as they saw fit to make sure their VP candidate was dressed in a matter befitting her station. That Palin extended and increased that allotment to include much of her immediate family instead of using her own funds is why people on the left and the right got up in her face about it.

There were actually a couple of articles that made a point of saying that McCain, Biden, Obama and yes, even Michelle Obama, supplied their wardrobes out of their personal finances. Palin's came up because they had to itemize her purchases on the campaign expense reports and that's why it became public knowledge because those records are.

I personally don't care why or how much she spent, it was the republican campaign donors who first raised the hue and cry over her expenditures once they were made known.

I know you gear right, hon. And I've have been fine with McCain had he won, and event contemplated voting for him after Hillary lost the nomination. But I'll admit he lost me when he selected Palin, and it had nothing to do with her shopping spree.

That said, I think we'll all be fine. Everyone needs to settle back and have a burger and beer and be frugal over the holidays and see if we can't gt this massive ship of fools somewhat back on course.

I wasn't even talking about the clothes. LOL. I can't even remember what snide comment of Chris Matthews annoyed me that day. I used to like Chris Matthews as a journalist until this election cycle. It's not because he is a Democrat, because I lost respect for him during the Democratic primary when he was so clearly favoring Obama over Clinton. For the record, I much preferred Obama to Clinton. I'm not bitter or even disappointed over the election results. Even if you were an ardent McCain supporter (which I wasn't, I respect him deeply, but I was never over the top for him) when you saw Jesse Jackson with tears streaming down his face and remember that he was with Martin Luther King Jr on the day he died you have to apprectiate what this election means to our nation.

Even without the racial history, of our nation, this is still historic. The next generation never waits for this generation to politely get out of the way. It's an exciting time in the USA even with all of our problems. Who knows, maybe this younger generation will serve us better than the older, supposedly wiser generation. I'm looking forward to the new ideas and new ways of doing things.
