Introducing...jobs!

Over the past few weeks or so, your lovely mods have been keeping a fun little project on the down low (what can we say, we enjoy surprises!). Well, that project is finally done!

Introducing...jobs!

We noticed awhile back that many people were showing interest in getting their characters more involved in Splendor workings. So, as a solution and answer to that, we set up a brand new Job Board and job system to help keep track of things!

This new system and turn of events now allows your characters to set up and take over small shops, take on volunteer jobs (since no one is really getting paid), and things of that likeness.

In-game, this turn of events will come about by the Locals finally getting fed up with keeping up after the outsiders. With so many new people, it seems the Locals have finally decided to stop helping outsiders out, and instead are just tending to their own areas, leaving the outsiders to work for themselves essentially.

Now, just for clarification, this is NOT:

• Something required of your character - the jobs and shops are entirely optional and up to you.

• An economy. Remember, Splendor doesn't have a currency, so jobs aren't done for money; they're there to keep the city in working order and to keep the boredom at bay.

• Restrictions on character activities. You don't have to be signed on to a job to do certain things if you don't want to be! Though if your character does set up shop somewhere, it'd be nice to let other players know!

There are a few links below that you should all check out.

Job Board: Where we plan to keep track of jobs (for player reference, nothing super official). This link will be added to the main navigation.
NPC Notice Board post: In-game, passive aggressive (haha, oh those Locals) notice from the Locals about the change
Main community action post: In-game interactive post about the change.

Now, like the job board says - get creative! There are suggested jobs for your character to take that are already on the job board, but that doesn't mean that's all there is! Go wild with ideas of jobs or activities your character could create. Have fun!

Also, once your character has taken a job or opened up a shop, it's pretty much your territory. Want to completely redesign the decor? Rename? Remodel and switch everything up? Go for it! No need to ask permission to do so, as long as it isn't anything that would interfere with others extremely. It's your shop and job after all, so get creative!

If you guys have any questions about specifics, or whether or not a job would be possible/plausible, we would appreciate you directing it over to the F.A.Q. page instead of this post, so future players can check out that post first if they have questions.
