Well, now. There has been quite the influx of new arrivals lately, hasn't there?

[ -- translation: it's time for a head count, Mukuro-style, bitches. ]

My sincerest greetings to all who have found themselves lately amongst us. [ oh, listen to that ebb and flow of laughter. it just never ceases with this voice, does it? and yet so distant, as if ( Read more... )

I'm not sure I have a favorite.

[ a pause, thoughtful. ]

I have an interest in them as a whole. The thing about fables is that there's always a reason they came into being-- a kernel of truth or a moral to be drawn from them. Take urban legends, for example. While the story or the entity in question is often blown out of proportion in a citywide game of telephone, there's an undeniable start to the tale.

Some would say they are very telling about the fears and drives inherent in human nature.

Very much so. A story like those often originates from exactly that-- desire and fear. From what does your interest stem?

Much the same as yours. Human nature never ceases to fascinate.

[ they're his favourite toys, after all! ]

Used to like Peter Pan when I was a kid. And wouldn't you know it? I found Never Never Land all on my own.

Did you now?

Yeah, long time ago. Ever wonder how much work Peter had to do once he got there? Bet it was a lot.

[Spoiler-]

How're the teeth? I never really could imagine how that feels, but you sound well off enough.

I always did wonder whether he colonized the natives.

[ haHAha... ]

Well. I've yet to realize how I might live with my dentist's displeasure, but yes.

[ There's something in this man's voice. Not unsettling, precisely, as that would be allowing himself to react thus. ]

I would think a city that grants wishes has enough of a fairytale vibe without events adding to it.

You would think.

What if one wished for no more events?

Haha, what if the next is none of the above, Mukuro?

Assuming, of course, that there is a next.

[ but Mukuro has a hunch. ]

Does it happen a lot?

That's relative, don't you think.

[The greeting is what catches Luke's attention. He listens, confused at the parts obviously not directed at him, as well as most of what he said near the end... The last part explain some of it, but...]

I've never heard of any stories like that... [Not that he's an expert on children's stories, even in his own world.]

Are you sheltered?

Wh-what do you mean?

[Actually that's hitting closer to the mark than Luke would like to admit. He'd been locked inside his own house ever since he'd been "kidnapped", in order to "protect" him from the outside world. The truth hadn't nearly been so simple.]
