[voice] // tell me a story and i'll tell you a lie //

Well, now. There has been quite the influx of new arrivals lately, hasn't there?

[ -- translation: it's time for a head count, Mukuro-style, bitches. ]

My sincerest greetings to all who have found themselves lately amongst us. [ oh, listen to that ebb and flow of laughter. it just never ceases with this voice, does it? and yet so distant, as if utterly unconnected to his words; entirely remote, and never so much as a hint of warmth. ] Others have explained the workings of this city better than I might dare attempt to. Although it is human nature to long for one's house and hearth, I do hope that your stay within Splendor will not prove to be entirely unmemorable.

But there is one other matter. [ -- and a pause, as though he's thinking this through, followed by a sigh. ] My condolences to those who were plagued by the recent sleeping illness.

As others have been so keen to observe, I found the experience rather reminiscent of a certain fairytale.

I've been considering. If the first event is any indication, what do you suppose the next shall be?

Wolves predating upon young girls on the way to their grandmothers' houses -- [ and now it sounds as though something is being rapped gently, like knuckles to a wall, or maybe a foot (or trident) to the floor -- ] -- or boys crying the untruths thereof?

[ a long, long pause. ]

Nonsense, yes? Those are merely silly tales for children.

Yet I confess to enjoying fables in their original forms. Aesop's and Grimm's. Which story is your favourite?
