He could only hope.
Walking down the hallway again, Miles felt himself rather worried about Matt once again: was the psycho waiting for him? Could he find them all that quicker now? Would he come after them?
These thoughts raced through his mind as he opened the door to Phoenix's apartment and stepped inside.

It was Miles... without Ema.
"Where's Ema?" he asked instantly, looking instantly panicked. Had something happened to her? But... Edgeworth didn't look rushed...

All because of him.
"Ms. Lana Skye is here as well." Abrupt and to the point, as usual. "I would appreciate it if you didn't fold the corners to that." A slight gesture was made with his hand to the book on the floor as he vanished into the kitchen.

What the hell? Had Phoenix done something... wrong?
It occurred to him almost too quickly that they hadn't had a chance to talk about what had happened between them the night before. Phoenix felt a sharp pang in his stomach at the thought. Miles had been drinking, hadn't he? What if he regretted what they'd done?
Phoenix didn't... but telling Edgeworth that could only make their relationship even more tense.
He didn't want that to happen.
Slowly following after him, Phoenix lingered in the doorway to the kitchen, watching Edgeworth quietly.
"...Lana is here?" he murmured, finally. "That's... good."

Setting the mug down on the bedside table, Phoenix shifted against the bed, sitting up a little more. "Wait a minute," he said, suddenly. "You can't just leave. You can't say something like that and leave."
He gripped the sheets, staring at Miles carefully.
"What did it mean?"

That's a good question. What did it mean?
Miles didn't need to turn around and look to know that Phoenix was staring at him. And so he was afraid to turn around and face him again, hand lightly on the door knob. It was tempting, so tempting, to just walk out, to run away from everything. It was the easy way out, but it was the one most comfortable.
Being confusing was just something he was used to. It was a hard habit to break, but that might be why he was feeling frustrated that Phoenix asked him these questions. And.. why he was getting annoyed that Phoenix couldn't understand him. He wasn't making it easy for him, and he was only partually aware of that.
A sigh escaped him, before he turned enough to allow a glance at Phoenix over his shoulder. "You should already know the answer to that. Unless.. you forgot what you said to me last night."
He took a sip on his tea, even if it tasted terrible and was cheap and not brewed like his tea because god his throat went totally dry and he needed something"I.. didn't think it ( ... )

"..You do?" He murmured, glancing back to Phoenix with a look of confusion. How anyone could like him, Miles had no idea. Regardless, it felt like a huge burden was lifted off his shoulders.
"For lack of better words to say right now.." He felt oddly sheepish, and turned his face to the side, although he shifted his eyes to watch Phoenix. "..I like you, too."

Whatever humor was there vanished as Phoenix pushed up beneath him again. Holy shit. Widening his eyes, Miles inhaled sharply and lost whatever balance he had, practically falling on his chest. Luckily he caught himself with an elbow on the bed, his other hand gripping at Phoenix's side, as if that was going to keep him from doing it again.
That wasn't fair! He wasn't expecting that, and now his body wanted attention so badly it ached.
"Look who's talking." Miles chided in a half grumble. "That was uncalled for."

His hands ran across Miles' chest, liking the feeling of his skin under his hands. It felt... nice... and, beyond that, there was a burning sort of feeling inside him every time they touched. God, this was surreal. Phoenix was never going to get over this. Hopefully, it would never stop long enough to give him time to try.
Even so... Miles felt almost... shielded. Phoenix frowned a little, trying to gauge him, trying to find some kind of feeling, some reaction. His hands pushed a little harder against Edgeworth's chest, wishing he could channel all of his emotions through his touch. Maybe if he was vulnerable, Miles would be, too... maybe Phoenix could break down those barriers...
The last thing he wanted was to get far into a physical relationship only to find out that would be all it was.

It was hard to make out Phoenix's expression, but Miles felt suddenly nervous. He'd never been with a guy before, and he was trying to make it seem like he knew what he was doing, so Phoenix wouldn't have to worry. There was an odd worry of hurting Phoenix that he just didn't want. He'd hurt him too much before.
Miles sat up so he was straddling him, not quite on his hips but close enough, and gently grabbed onto Phoenix's wrists with his fingers. No motion was made to move them, not yet.
"Is something wrong?"

He paused, thinking some. Licking his lips, he sighed, looked up at Edgeworth, searching his eyes carefully. "...Tell me this isn't all this is." He sighed, pulling him in a little closer. "It's good. It's damn good. But... but tell me there's more."

"Like.. that." He managed through clenched teeth, unable to exactly explain the whole talking down thing coherently.

"N-No, nothing. Just..." He swallowed sharply again, reaching up and grabbing at his arms, tugging on him to come closer again. "Don't.. Please."
God, he hated how needy he was starting to sound.

He decided to play stupid. Maybe he'd hear more of it.
Leaning down, Phoenix's lips pushed against Edgeworth's mouth, then trailed down, hitting his collarbone, his chest, pushing over his skin.
"Don't what?" he asked quietly between kisses, warm breath hitting the damp spots his mouth was leaving behind.
