Phoenix looked up, suddenly, his cheeks coloring at the words. Wait, what? What the hell did that mean, it 'meant more than he thought'?! Why was Edgeworth being so damn confusing? Did he really think he could say shit like that and just leave!?

Setting the mug down on the bedside table, Phoenix shifted against the bed, sitting up a little more. "Wait a minute," he said, suddenly. "You can't just leave. You can't say something like that and leave."

He gripped the sheets, staring at Miles carefully.

"What did it mean?"

"..."

That's a good question. What did it mean?

Miles didn't need to turn around and look to know that Phoenix was staring at him. And so he was afraid to turn around and face him again, hand lightly on the door knob. It was tempting, so tempting, to just walk out, to run away from everything. It was the easy way out, but it was the one most comfortable.

Being confusing was just something he was used to. It was a hard habit to break, but that might be why he was feeling frustrated that Phoenix asked him these questions. And.. why he was getting annoyed that Phoenix couldn't understand him. He wasn't making it easy for him, and he was only partually aware of that.

A sigh escaped him, before he turned enough to allow a glance at Phoenix over his shoulder. "You should already know the answer to that. Unless.. you forgot what you said to me last night."

He took a sip on his tea, even if it tasted terrible and was cheap and not brewed like his tea because god his throat went totally dry and he needed something"I.. didn't think it ( ... )

Phoenix frowned. "Maybe you forgot what I said to you last night." He stood from the bed, heading towards Miles across the room. "Don't you get it? What I told you? I said alcohol didn't fabricate emotions and it's true." He frowned. "It's not really... a matter of if I'm 'gay' or not." He reached up, putting a hand on Miles' shoulder. "I like you."

Miles looked down at his tea again, expression thoughtful as he quietly went through what he just heard. He was also a little flushed at the outright declaration.

"..You do?" He murmured, glancing back to Phoenix with a look of confusion. How anyone could like him, Miles had no idea. Regardless, it felt like a huge burden was lifted off his shoulders.

"For lack of better words to say right now.." He felt oddly sheepish, and turned his face to the side, although he shifted his eyes to watch Phoenix. "..I like you, too."

Grinning some, Phoenix felt a huge wave of relief crash over him.

"Yeah, I do. Jeez, didn't you know that, just from last night?" Phoenix smiled a little, suddenly pulling an arm around Miles' waist from the back.

...Yeah, he was definitely just as warm and good-smelling as before.

Miles widened his eyes a moment at the feeling of strong arms around his waist, and the tint in his cheeks got slightly darker. It was strange but.. oddly comforting. His free arm moved so it was resting atop Phoenix's, trying to resist the urge to lean against him while he was standing and holding tea, of all things.

"Forgive me. I'm only used to having people condemn my existence." He replied, typical tone a twinge sarcastic.

Phoenix actually laughed. His grip around Miles tightened just for a moment before he let go; a gentle hug.

"I don't think you have to worry about me doing that," he answered with a grin. "At least not right now. We'll worry about it later, when you're back to pissing me off in court."

And as quickly as it came, the warmth was gone. Miles turned back to face Phoenix, taking a sip of his tea, raising an eyebrow.

"Me? Tch, I'd never do such a thing." He glanced down at his cup, giving it a slow deliberate swirl. A smirk creeped across his face, although he didn't raise his eyes to look at Phoenix, and just leaned back against the door.

"It's not my fault you get overly passionate about your flawed logic." He waggled a finger at him, taking another sip of tea.

Phoenix reached out, grabbing the top of the mug with one hand, and Miles' chin with the other. "Flawed logic?" he repeated. "I don't think so." He leaned in, slowly, brushing lips against Miles' cheek, a little too nervous to actually kiss his lips. Not... just yet.

The touch of Phoenix's lips to his cheek, caused him to hold his breath for the moment, eyes turned to watch him at how close he was. So close, holding him in place. So.. in control. Almost.

His free hand reached up and lightly grasped the wrist of the hand that secured his chin, gently pulling it down. Once his head was relatively freed, he nudged his nose against Phoenix's, regarding him directly with half opened eyes of total smugness. Almost daring him.

"Of course." He stated casually, as if totally unphased by the fact that they were inches apart. "If it wasn't, it would not be so effortless for me to rip it apart every time."

"Every time, huh?" Phoenix asked quietly, closing his eyes, resting his body against Miles. They were destined to drop this tea eventually, but Phoenix was not going to pull away. Instead, he only smirked. "Funny. I seem to have entirely different memories of being in court with you." He leaned forward, easily taking Miles' dare, kissing the man gently., but refusing to pull away.

The weight of Phoenix added with his made the door click closed behind Miles. Stubbornly, he held his cup, although it was getting harder to pay attention to it. But it was tea, and he couldn't just drop it. That would be disgraceful.

The gentle kiss was welcomed, although he smiled against Phoenix's mouth and made a sound of protest, trying to pull away, like he wanted to add more to that last statement. Or maybe he wanted to put his tea down.

Phoenix blinked and quickly moved away. He didn't think he'd done anything wrong, and Edgeworth's expression didn't, for once, read like he had, but he could really never be too careful.

"Sorry," he said quickly, taking a shaky step back, letting go of the tea while he did.

Miles chuckled once Phoenix pulled away. At least he could save his tea, which he set down gently on the floor. Straightening up, he lightly gripped onto the front of his shirt with both hands.

"Ahh, see, then it is your memory which has failed you." Once he stood up again, he pulled Phoenix back to him. "You lack confidence in yourself." And now, to keep him from saying anything, Miles kissed him a tad bit forcefully.

Phoenix would have protested if he'd been given the chance. However, Miles was making sure that he wouldn't ever be able to use his mouth again, it felt like. Phoenix felt dizzy, and he reached out, his hands grabbing the cloth of Edgeworth's shirt at his sides, gripping a little too tightly. Jesus, Edgeworth knew how to kiss.

Whether past experience played a role or not, Miles knew what he wanted. His hands slid around Phoenix's midsection, holding him close and allowing him to to lean against Miles as much as possible, without giving into the door too much.

Tilting his head to the side slowly, he deepened the kiss, although he lightened up a little on the actual pressure on Phoenix's mouth. No sense in suffocating him.
