The sad & the happy

I was saddened today because I sent Lindsay a couple of photos of the drawing (work in progress, of course) she had commissioned me for, and she decided she'd rather just not have me go any further with it. It is a disappointment and I feel like I failed a friend of mine. Thankfully she is very sweet and understanding, so that helps a little. I ( Read more... )

Sorry about the picture situation, but yay to visiting with Aaron!

As for the Catholic wedding, all I really have to say is that they're very long. If you're familiar with masses, it's pretty similar with some weddingy language thrown in. If you're not- well, just pay attention to what everyone else is doing, and if you go up for communion, just cross your arms across your chest (like you're playing dead mummy) and get a blessing.

My mom's family is Catholic. I can remember going to two real Catholic weddings in my lifetime... one of them was when I was about six or seven, and I don't remember much at all except it was boring and I got yelled at a lot... however, that doesn't mean anything considering anything where you had to sit still for more than five minutes was boring at that age, and that particular set of Mom's cousins yells at everyone.

The other one was my cousin Meredith, in 2006. I don't remember it being any more boring than most weddings I've been to; the only thing I really remember being different than other Christian weddings is more Scripture reading with the structure of how it's usually done in a Catholic mass (one OT, one NT, one Gospel - and my mom was the reader for their wedding). I honestly don't remember if they served communion at that wedding, but I do know that Catholics only serve communion to Catholics, so if they do... wait, someone else already told you about that part... oops :\

Well I'm not Catholic, but I couldn't see them excluding people who wanted to participate, when it's in a wedding context. I am a Christian, so that should be good enough...
