The sad & the happy

Nov 13, 2008 22:07

I was saddened today because I sent Lindsay a couple of photos of the drawing (work in progress, of course) she had commissioned me for, and she decided she'd rather just not have me go any further with it. It is a disappointment and I feel like I failed a friend of mine. Thankfully she is very sweet and understanding, so that helps a little. I just wish I could have done a better job on it, and I even still want to possibly try again, even if I don't get paid for it. :/

However, my sadness was countered with some happiness this evening as well. :) I got to talk with Aaron for a bit, and while he has a headache and was frustrated at computer issues he's having, he was still fun to talk to, and brought my spirits a bit higher, especially since he said I can go ahead and get plane tickets to come visit him January 2nd through 11th. :) I've just bought my ticket, and the price wasn't too bad! I'm really excited... it has been SO long since I've visited him, at least longer than any other gap we've had since we (officially) started our relationship. It will be cold, but we can cuddle to warm up. :D

Tomorrow I shall be heading over to Pat Butler Elementary (the school I worked at for 2 years), to sit in on an ESL class. This will be for a paper I have to write for my Second Language Learning + Teaching class... thank goodness Butler is bailing me out, because the rough draft of this paper is due on Monday! And I won't be in Sacramento again until Sunday night. So, this means I can write my rough draft tomorrow while I'm chilling at home after going to the ESL class. :) Sprezzatura!

Other than that, I am going with my parents down to Lancaster on Saturday for my cousin Rey and his fiancee Beth's wedding, which I look forward to. It will be a Catholic wedding... so I'm not entirely sure what to expect (boring?)... but I know there will be dancing at the reception, so I'm hopeful that will at least be fun. :) We're spending the night in Lancaster on Saturday... so Sunday will be full of time spent on the road for me. We'll be driving back to Paso Robles that day, and then I'll be driving back up to Sacramento... that's about 8 hours total of travelling in the car that day. At least I do have a car... otherwise I wouldn't be able to get back to Sacramento on Sunday at all, since the bus or train take so much longer.

Time to blow up my air mattress and relax some.

yay, aaron, weddings, friends, disappointment, artwork, sadness, school, travels, family, dancing
