The Friday Five/Just wondering for December 29, 2023

Dec 29, 2023 16:23

It’s nearly the end of 2023 and 2024 looms ahead like a sweet, unsullied prize.

1. What are you hoping for in 2024?
2. What was your low point of 2023?
3. And your high point of 2023?
4. Do you make New Year’s resolutions or are they just a waste of time?
5. Do you have any traditions for celebrating New Year’s Eve?

my answers )

just wondering, friday five

1-Trump becomes ineligible/kicked off the ballots or goes to prison, either way. Hoping more states, including mine will do what Colorado and Maine did.

2-My dad's cancer

3-I can't think of any.

4-Waste of time.

5-Not really. I'll probably just take a vodka shot at midnight.

I agree with you on No. 1 , Sadly, Colorado has put him back on the ballot.

*hugs* I'm sorry to hear that.

Vodka works for me.

1. Retirement!
2. Maybe this is shallow, but David mcCallum’s death. It hit me much harder than I had anticipated. And it occurred on my late husband’s birthday, which amplified the impact.
3. The 40th anniversary of joining my profession. For many reasons.
4. I can get disappointed over my fail8ngs without setting myself up for more.
5. I had many with my husband. Now I just watch I,d movies and get a bit nostalgic.

Retirment is so sweet, my friend, but be prepared to be rushed off your feet.

*hugs*

Oh, thank you! I look forward to the freedom, I think. At least that is what my gut says. I’m a little rattled by the number of people telling me (threatening me?) that I had better figure out what I will be doing with my retirement… I think they have a point, but I so want to be left alone regarding work and schedules!

I don't know that you HAVE to d something with your retirement. I love the freedom of my days. I can write, quilt, cook, and putter around at my leisure. I love answering to no one other than myself as to what to do. You have your writing, your family, fandom. It's nice to have the time to get everything just the way I like it now. Poo-poo to those others. Your retirement should be all about what you want.

I hope that for everyone, too. People shouldn't have to pay such high prices for something to make them able to live.

You did sound pretty miserable during that trip.

Nothing wrong with avoiding people, not with Covid on the upswing.

1. Finish cleaning up my mom's house and get my new house in order.

2. My mom dying.

3. Buying the new house.

4. Sort of. I have a book in which to set goals.

5. Watch the countdown on CNN in New York and then in the Midwest.

I'm sorry that you lost your mom. It's never easy to say goodbye to a family member.

Getting a new house must have been a real trip. Is it in the same city or neighborhood?

The house is in the town that I was living in, Urbana, IL. I’m still at my mom’s house right now in Michigan.
