It's officially kitten season. Got my first litter of 5 in today, 4 weeks old, one was cold and agonal. She's still with me, warm, and even taking a bit of formula here and there. Went through that scary neurological phase when she first became responsive, but I think she's stabilizing. One other female is in pretty poor shape too. I'm thinking ( Read more... )

Funny thing happened today. About a year ago I had picked up a stray dog on the highway on my way to work. Fell absolutely in LOVE with that dog. Wanted him SO BAD! But his owner came to claim him. He came in again shortly after that, and again his owner claimed him. After that, I never saw him again. A neighbor thought he had moved to Lewiston. ( Read more... )

Well, my experiment today failed, but not for the reason I thought it would. I called him Hank and he appears to be a Beagle/Boxer mix. He's a young, happy, playful dog, but well behaved and fairly mellow, especially considering his breeds. Friendly towards cats. Two weeks ago, I was commenting on what a strange kitten season it's been, we've had a fraction the usual number in the shelter, and I've had only just a few litters of bottle babies.
