Funny thing happened today. About a year ago I had picked up a stray dog on the highway on my way to work. Fell absolutely in LOVE with that dog. Wanted him SO BAD! But his owner came to claim him. He came in again shortly after that, and again his owner claimed him. After that, I never saw him again. A neighbor thought he had moved to Lewiston. ( Read more... )

Puppies! I did not tell you that I brought a monster home, did I?
Little John is pushing 8 months old, and weighs in at 117 pounds. Beautiful floppy deranged oaf of a mastiff. And because I never bring home anything that's not broken, he has elbow dysplasia (we're one surgery in, need to do the other leg in a few weeks), AND myasthenia gravis. Whee :)
Good luck with your fox-man (call him Kitsune?)

Well, I was right on the Kelpie part, her owner's mother called today looking for her. Said she was a Kelpie mix. Her son had her in the car at Wal-Mart, and when he came out she was gone. He thought she was stolen, finally told his mom about it today. So her name is Zip (I had been calling her Liz, for Elizabeth Taylor: brunette with blue eyes) so she's identified, but not yet claimed. But it's likely she will be. Darn. Mean time, the old Klondike dog is going downhill as fast as I can up his Tramadol/baby aspirin to keep him reasonably comfortable. My vet says I can pretty much keep going this way until he's too doped up to function (as opposed to being in too much pain to function) and then it's time.

Congrats on your puppy! I love floppy deranged mastiffs. :) But wow, you picked an unusually broken one!

Aww, denied. Glad she's got someone looking for her though.
On the other hand, would you like a consolation prize puppy? He's very cute, but a teensy bit slobbery.
