I wouldn't call it lonely.

Even if it was - is, what is the purpose in announcing it? Curse logic says there doesn't have to be a purpose, period, and if we go with that then it just amounts to the same thing as all the other ones like this: a city-wide show and tell. Everyone's "lonely" at one point or another. Then it passes. You get over it or ( Read more... )

A friend of mine is convinced the sole purpose of the curses is to humiliate us. I'm not sure how that helps the City or amuses the deities unless they've got the maturity of teenagers. The Magic 8 Ball seems as likely at any. Maybe a deck of cards.

A deck of cards made of jokers, or 52 pick-up, depending on what the compulsion is, I guess. I've heard that the City "runs" on discontent in all varieties. Humiliation falls in there somewhere.

The discontent theory makes sense when you consider the majority of the curses do tend to cause those kinds of feelings. They throw in just enough curses like the tea party one to make us happy and give us hope that this month will be better because then when it's not the feelings of discontent are amplified.

Not a bad conclusion, even if everything at the end of the day is still conjecture. Then again, I'm not sure how we would make it anything more than that. The Deities' word is good on deals but I don't know what it's worth regarding anything else.

It really is one of the more depressing curses they could have come up with. It's like a bunch of whining teenagers all over the network today.

The unfortunate part is definitely the sharing factor. If it was just the feeling, that would be much more acceptable -- which is probably why they didn't stop there.

I think the sharing factor is the whole curse. People are always lonely, you know? They usually just keep it to themselves.

I think there is something else to it - twisting the idea of being lonely, possibly.

[ Because Arthur doesn't believe he is, which obviously means this curse is all kinds of whacked out...

...well, or not. ]

Nothing out of the norm, exactly.

If I wanted you to know I would have left you a legible note.
