Savage Beauty Chapter Eleven

Aug 26, 2005 17:14

Here are the first fruits of my labour over this five-day period away from work. It’s another chapter of “Savage Beauty”. Down on the funny a little, I think; there is a surprising amount of plot forcing its way in. Rating still probably just about scraping PG-13. 2,625 words ( Read more... )

Oh dear, by the end of this I'm going to view this as a perfectly normal story, aren't I? ;)

Still! It'll be a very enjoyably story - if this chapter and the rest of the fic are anything to go by. You are still rather amusing, old bean.

And you'll watch the DVDs and read other fics, and find yourself thinking "hmm, vampires as a metaphor for jungle headhunters. Interesting."

Thanks!

So glad to see an update on this story. I love the puns, plays on words and pure silliness. And even more that you manage to keep all the characters in character plus give us some interesting plot to keep things rolling along, and us caring about what happens to everyone. I especially adore your Dru; I don't think I've read Giles/Dru before, but it's an unexpected delight.

It's a bit like watching a juggler walking a tightrope--at any moment you could drop the balls, or fall off the story into lifeless froth but you never do. I almost don't want to see you switch to "Angel of the Morning" but I love that too, so I'll be happy with whatever you can give us.

I've been a Giles/Drusilla shipper since "Becoming Part 2" but never found a plausible way of writing it before "Savage Beauty".

Glad you like it; I hope I don't drop my balls!

Wonderful! I can't write without plot either. Intrigue, no less for our intrepid band of players!

Michael Praed called....he's insulted that you've given his merrie men to Robin Wood! *G*

I think I am going to have to put aside my love of Ganya and start shipping GRU or is it Diles? Driles? GIRU? Grusilla? Girusilla? Gaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!

Still enjoying this so much.

Michal Praed gave his merrie men to Jason Connery when he left "Robin of Sherwood" to appear on "Dynasty" and in the process kissed his career goodbye. He's got no rights to them as far as I'm concerned.

The Merry Men will, of course, be familiar Buffy characters!

I've been a Giles/Drusilla shipper since "Becoming Part 2" but never found a plausible way of writing it before "Savage Beauty". I've had a "Drusilla gets chipped instead of Spike" plot bunny kicking around for a long time but so far I've managed to keep fending it off.

Glad you're still liking it!

Yes Michael followed his then girlfriend to the States and we lost the best Robin (Jason did a fine job, but Michael was perfect IMHO). His career since then has been sad at best since he had tremendous talent.

I dearly love Dru. She was a true innocent...even as a vampire (IMHO) because she was mad before being made evil. I always wanted a way to redeem her and give her happiness and, like you, haven't figured a way to do it convincingly. Take care of the vampire problem and you still have the mess Angelus and Darla made of her mind.

I think it is also sad that Giles was not properly matched with anyone after Jenny. There was a lot of potential and chemistry. I can see him quite easily with either Anya or WIllow. If there were a way to make Dru functional, I could see that as well.

You have a gift (several actually) to take our canon characters and put them in the most extraordinary situations/pairings and make it work perfectly!

enigmaticblues did it convincingly in "His Tender Mercies".

“Fine work, Rayne. Keep it up.”

Couldn't put it better myself. Great fun as always.
