Works in Progress, or, Holy Shit, I'm Posting About Fandom!
With Pretentious Caps, Even!
Okay. This is just a status post, to give myself a measure of direction.
In the xxxHolic/CLAMP fandom, I have:
*Three giftfics, all in progress, for anyjen, iambickilometer, and sillyangelfaery. I have the most written, and am the closest to being done, on Iambic's fic, but I think if I crunched I could probably finish the other two in a few weeks. But only if I crunched. These three are at the top of my Stuff To Finish list.
*Adopted!AU. I have a little more written for this, but I'm not 100% sure where I want to go with it. It will probably be a one-shot, no matter what.
*Homeless!Watanuki. I want to turn this into a one-shot, with possible Doumeki interaction in there somewhere. Not sure yet. Backburnered at the moment.
*Sky Pirates. I need to finish writing part one and get it all edited and filled out before I even think of posting it to my own journal, and then I can start plotting and outlining and writing part two. (The first cleaned up bit of Part One is here. Don't expect more any time soon, though, I warn you.)
*Fortuneteller!Watanuki. Another one-shot, which I really ought to work on.
*BoardingHouse!AU. I want to do a little ficlet for this one, concerning the neighbors and thin walls and Obvious Noises.
*Psychic TV AU. I want to finish the 'How Watanuki Met Doumeki' ficlet for it. I've already shown in the original ficlet that Doumeki is protective of Watanuki and takes his job seriously, and I'd like to at least show how that started out.
*Restaurant!AU. I'd love to bang out some drabble or ficlets for this 'verse. I brainstormed some ideas that I still have floating around, but I'm not really in the mood to write it.
*Doctor Doctor. I opened this up to iambickilometer to see what xe does with it. I'm keeping my mind open for more ideas in this universe, but not a whole lot is coming up.
*Watanuki Jones. This is one of those fics I started before Mom and Dad died, so I'm sort of iffy on how to go about writing it again. I've at least gotten past some of the scenes that were stopping me, but now I need to plow through until I reach the end, whatever that may be. (This friends-locked post has what I've managed to pound out so far.)
*Birdcage. Ditto with Watanuki Jones, which makes sense, since I consider both of these to be the "Soul Fics." I'm tempted to open them up for adoption, really, but I'll try to bang my head against them for a little longer. (As soon as I give them up I'll want them back, just watch.)
*Reincarnated!OT3. I kind of want to do this, but the more distance I have the less I want to finish it. Reincarnation fics are tricky, and this one is majorly backburnered due to the fact that it would have to be I don't know how long just to get them to a good point without making it seem rushed or cheap.
*Nature of Love. I want to write more on this--it's a more gen kind of xxxHolic fic, very much focused on Yuuko and Watanuki and their weird relationship, and more subtle, deeper subjects than I usually tackle. Plus I'm tempted to re-write the first part a little, so I'm not sure where I want to go with it, really. But this is, outside of the AUs, my most flexible fic in regards to canon, so it's not something I want to give up. (Here is the first oneshot, which I'm thinking of rewriting.)
*DragQueen!Doumeki. With a name like that one would think it would be so so lame, and maybe it will be, but I'd like to try writing it. Must do some research on drag queens and transvestites in Japan. Also, it's kind of a future-fic, though certainly not what I'd ever think of Doumeki doing, usually. Also, grown and skilled!Watanuki, which doesn't get written often enough.
In non-CLAMP fic:
*Dr. Horrible Fix-It Threesome Fic. Oh, this will be so big, and so long, simply because I have to get three messed up characters into a relationship when one of them is nominally good (though a total douche), one of them is genuinely good (and tends to be a little naive) and the last is sort of good but still nominally evil (and not going to give it up). Plus I want Penny to have a real measure of power in the relationship, so there will be lots of balancing going on. It's probably going to give me a huge headache at some point.
*A Dresden Files/Odd Thomas crossover, set after the first Odd Thomas book and ignoring everything after said book. (I'm not thrilled with the way the story's going.) My theme/title is "The Paranet Comes to Pico Mundo." More a gen character fic than a massive plotty crossover, really.
This is just what I have on the burners right now--I have thought of other things, like some Duklyon fic, and some gen Tsubasa fic, and some X fic, plus a few others. But for right now, this is what I want to get done, starting with the three gift fics I owe to people.
