Cute Overload

This Sunday we threw an early Halloween Party. Which was a tea party, actually, with a theme loosely based on "The Mad Tea Party" from Alice in Wonderland. For costumes, Mrs. Spaceroo was The Mad Hatter, whilst I was the March Hare. Sort of, anyway. My costume was *beyond* poorly executed, a terrible rush job spawned from it not dawning on me until the day before that, yes, the party was *themed*. (To give you an idea I resorted to using a bathtub puff for the tail.) By comparison, Dawn's wasn't bad at all, considering it was done under similar time constraints:

(The jacket was a Salvation Army find. As a bonus it'll also easily do double-duty as the core of an elf costume at Christmas. Maybe if I start now I can do a better job as a reindeer then I managed as a hare.)

Aaaanyway... Little Kara was the dormouse, of course.

There weren't any requirements for guests to stick to a theme. After all it's Wonderland, so really anything should be fair game. As it turned out, we had an extra special guest at our party, thanks to findra bringing along his "friend" Amodeo. Try your best to avoid a bad case of cute toxicity while viewing the following pictures. (They're just the tip of the iceberg.)

Peekaboo!

Kara drops her hood for an unobstructed view of her new friend

Care for a drink?

Kara sharing her teatime milk.

Giddyup!

Ride the tail!

Honk!

Amodeo getting his nose adjusted. Just in case. This will come back to haunt him.

Playing Ball

Mice and Pandas, playing together... MASS HYSTERIA!

Ooof

Someone's batteries are running down? Nah. She's just teasing.

Eeek!

Squirm! Squeak!

More ball

Starting to get the hang of that whole "passing" thing...

Eeek! (again!)

Pink feet! (the videos filmed around this point are just... crazy, unbelievable, mind-damagingly cute.)

Kara and the Panda

A video of Kara bringing Amodeo a flower. 3MB, Quicktime. (LJ mangles filename extensions, just in case you have trouble. I pasted it together with all of 25 minutes effort in iMovie so... be kind about the production values.)

Embarassing Moment

The hot-glue holding Amodeo's nose lets go. Now he knows how Michael Jackson feels every day...

Up on the Slide

About time to say goodbye to Mr. Panda.

R.I.P.

Spent.

The rest of the party was of course quite lovely, so don't think it was all about the baby. She just happened to generate the most film footage. Dawn did an amazing job putting together a tea-time lunch for everyone, including cucumber sandwiches, spinach salad, and scones spread with real homemade lemon curd. (For anyone unacquainted with lemon curd, it's basically chunk-less marmalade crossed with the inside of a lemon meringue pie.) A wonderful time was had by all, and I completely blew up my diet.

Anyway. It was a nice day. Later, around 9:30, Kara insisted on getting up to check if her furry friend might of come back. I think someone might end up having to show up to her birthday party next year.
