Stuff and Nonsense

Ever since the commercials for this movie started airing I've had this image in my head. I should probably apologize right now for ever letting it out.

"Loooove it!"

So, I guess it's election day, and I'll be voting in a couple hours. Why is it that I can't help just feeling really... I dunno, semi-apathetic about the whole thing? Oh, yeah, never mind. I'm in a state that every poll says is completely spoken for and has been since... 2000? I know it's the wrong attitude to have since supposedly every vote counts... except when they don't. Note there's no *actual* sour grapes here. I actually really don't care who the next president is at this point. Both have things to recommend them, I guess, and there's reasons to really dislike both of them. Whichever one wins gets to inherit a mess. It's pretty much just a theoretical thing.

At least there's some potential interest in the local stuff, mostly the initiatives. For most practical purposes it doesn't matter whether I vote for or against the Democratic candidate for the state-level positions. California is famous for its gerrymandered voting districts, so the results of basically every election are preordained. It's so one-sided around here I'll admit that occasionally I've fallen into the pattern of basing a particular vote on completely random criteria. For instance, I'm still trying to decide whether to vote for the democratic candidate for state assembly. On the "serious" hand I'm not overly impressed with the disastrously unbalanced budgets that the current leadership keeps inflicting on the state, but on the other hand he *did* send us a potholder in the mail when asking for our votes. Yes, a potholder. It takes a certain kind of politician to sign off on promotional potholders as a campaign gimmick.

Anyway. I'll proudly stick my "I Voted!" sticker on my windshield to replace the nearly-gone one from the Primary vote. I just... hope people understand that I don't really mean to be "unpatriotic" when voicing the observation that, really, there's a part of me that would rather watch a new episode of "House" rather then be spammed with election results all night.

A coworker was really insistent that I take this quiz. I am *really* ashamed I scored so well on it.An 80's Cartoon Quiz
