Lavi stared out the library window watching the fog thicken and churn. He had turned off his device earlier annoyed with his current predicament. China seemed intent on stopping Ping from reaching him and quite frankly Lavi didn't blame him. Still it was a hindrance to the redhead if he had to walk back to the apartments without those glasses. Tapping his fingers on one of the tables he let out a heavy sigh.

Screw this, he thought. Lavi stood up and moved for the library doors. With his fine memory he was pretty sure he knew the way back to the apartments even with the thickness of the fog hindering his vision. He'd just have to move carefully and hope whatever was out there wasn't too much for him to handle.

Before leaving the building entirely he pulled down his headband and pressed it over his mouth and nose. If it helped keep him from fainting then it would. If not then nothing would be lost by doing it. So with stupid determination he stepped out into the fog, relying on his memory to map his way back to the apartments.

I told you, Captain, you do not need to protect me as much as you think, aru. [not caustic at all, though - sounds rather pleased, if anything. after Shang's chiding of Ping, he finally turns his head to look at Lavi, untensing a bit.]

... Aa. Yes. We will continue this. [paaause.] But let us move faster than a leisurely walk!

[now that his drive was placated by meeting up with them all, he's shrinking down, looking somewhat anxiously at the fog. ushering Ping and Shang to walk in front of him, too.]

[Ping was expecting much more of a reaction than that, honestly. He nods to Shang, but steps back a little so that he may answer the questions brought to him]

Sheng. My only reason for leaving the Communal was indeed so that I may help Lavi. He would have been stuck at Shibusen where there is no food, and who knows how long this fog will last. Moreso, he is an ally, a fellow soldier [pause] and a companion

[Fog everywhere...and creepy fog to make things worse! Plus there seemed to be something following him! Great...]

There's gotta be a better way to get around.

[Of course, he could have just stayed in Shibusen but...that draw! He hadn't felt something like that since...well not getting into that but; this was too strong to ignore.

Then he heard it...that familiar voice calling through the fog. No way. Unable to see he doesn't really stop until he runs over a foot. He glances up and grins brightly!]

M-!..

[Armour?...Wait but hadn't she just pulled that stuff off?]

Er...hey, mind explaining all of this to me?

[Waving at you from the floor! And unaware there are other people around.]

[Ping could almost cry. It had been over a month since she had seen her guardian. He leans down to scoop him up and pick him up, an absolutely benign look falling on his face and she gently pulls him to her shoulder in a small hug]

Yea. It's me [pause] Ping. And ah [looks around at the others, surprised Mushu would show himself in front of them but then he realizes. He takes off his glasses and holds one of the lens over him]

I think some very quick introductions are in order. I know you have yet to meet any of them [very light emphasis on any, and turns to Shang first]

My Captain. Li Shang.

[manmaker]

[steps forward to stare at the small creature on Mulan's shoulder.]

Ping. You know this...[stare]...lizard?

... [Lavi stared down at the lizard his one eye wide in curiosity.] I'm not surprised. Talking hedgehogs, giant blue aliens... now portable lizards to boot.

[He watched the crowd around him through the monocle.]

[Holds the glasses with both hands, peering through the lens. Oh...there...uh oh. well the Captain he recognized, and openly glared at for a moment before looking up at the red-haired man.

He twitched.]

LIZARD!? I AM NOT A LIZARD!

[Climbs up on Ping's head.]

I'm a dragon! Personal Guardian to the Fa Family! [So there >|]

[grins a bit]

It's true. Mushu here is my family guardian. [puts glasses on for a second, turns to Lavi before holding them up above head so that Mushu could still see]

This is Lavi. A fellow soldier here.

[manmaker]

[still eying that lizard. The Fa are a great family, sure they should have a more...impressive family dragon.]

We need to get moving.

[gives Lavi a long steady look. Yeah, he'll beleive you're a solider when he sees it.]

[he'd been standing a bit to the side, open-mouthed, openly staring.]

[again, you might not see him coming-- dashing once more for Ping, although this time hsi eyes are clearly on the red 'lizard,' splitting into a bit of a shaky smile, hands reaching up as if to grab but hesitating a few inches off just a moment before.]

You-- you- a dragon! Aaiya, a dragon! I have not seen one of your sort in forty-one years! [oh, listen to that glee. listen to the way he apparently doesn't hear Shang's good advice.] You are small, yes, but young, I assume... Mushu, dui a? You will grow up just fine!

[hands suddenly drooping, pause, blink.]

... How did you find Ping? You can still act as a guardian?

[At China's excitement he almost laughs, and yes, there is indeed some actual pride in that]

Mushu. I present to you sheng China, the spirit of our home.

[travel_sized4u]

[Impressive? You want impressive pretty boy, just wai...what's this? Paying attention to China now. Though he's a little weary on the hands coming towards him (ducking a bit against Ping's head) before he gives a pretty smug grin.]

Now that's what I'm talkin' about. REspect! You know just how to treat a real dragon.

[Totally not looking hopeful at that growing up bit! Now he's leaning down to peer at Ping.]

Uh...kid, did ya hit your head while I've been gone. If this guy's China, then...then I'm the great Wall!

By that logic if you're a dragon then I must be blonde. [Lavi spoke slightly distracted, casting glances to his sides surreptitiously.]

Really this is very nice, but I think this sort of thing belongs back at the communal where it belongs, yeah?

[manmaker]

[as much as Shang doesn't like to admit it (in fact, he looks rather unhappy about this), he agrees with Lavi]

Yes. We need to go. This is not the place for discussions.

You are not the Great Wall, this i-- [-- ah. he cuts himself off, ducking his head a bit and backing off.]

[right. the Communal. back to moving along in formation, though the way he eyes Mushu says this definitely isn't the end. at least that brief spout of energy has him moving better.]
