Tsubaki couldn't recall a time when she'd seen snow since coming to Death City for school; it wasn't common for the desert to get cold enough for it, though it certainly was tonight. After the craziness in Europe, it was wonderful to be home and have such a sight so quickly after returning.

The rooftops were like her second home. It was easy to hide up here and just relax, watching the people and the sights below. And since Death City had a sloping effect, like a mountain, it always gave her the best view.

The snow glittered on the ground all around her as she sat on the edge of the building, her legs crossed, hanging of the side, and slowly kicking back and forth.

His voice caught her attention, though her expression was happy instead of surprised as she glanced over her shoulder at him. "Good evening, Sarutobi-san. I don't mind at all."

"Thank you," he answered gratefully, whilst very carefully taking a seat beside Tsubaki. If he had learned one thing since beginning to practice his roof-climbing, it's that with multi-story buildings and hard pavement beneath, falls were far more unpleasant than he remembered them being. Besides, he wouldn't want to make an idiot of himself in front of a beautiful kunoichi.

"How are you? I haven't seen you in a while." He scratched at his nose idly. In fact, it was the first time he'd seen the girl outside of Shibusen and the introductory tours. He privately hoped the girl had been sorely busy with her duties - he had a sixth sense for tracking down and annoying kunoichi, and to have failed in this case would be a sign of him having truly lost his edge.

"In fact, I was hoping to run into you," he added, smiling more cheerfully. After returning from Europe, he'd been looking for a certain something or someone, and only then he realized Tsubaki might be able to help him more than anyone.

"You're welcome." She peered up at him, watching as he moved to sit beside her on the edge of the roof. It was good that he was more careful than normal; the cold weather and the height made things slippery, after all.

"Ah, really? I'm sorry." She hadn't meant to hide or anything, but she did have a rather feisty partner to deal with, on top of Shibusen things. "I didn't mean to stay away."

Tsubaki tilted her head to the side, looking a little surprised. "Really? Is there something I can help you with?"

"Hmm?" He blinked, then added with a casual flip of one hand, "Hey, it's not your fault. Things have been hectic. I'm guessing you're kept fairly busy as well?" He gave a tiny smile out of the corner of his mouth in what was a subtle pass for sympathy. If he had learned one thing serving the Takeda and Sanada, it's that a shinobi knows no rest.

"Ah, yes," he confirmed, slightly reluctant. As it were, his eyes closed as he raised a gauntleted hand and scratched at his nose habitually. He felt somewhat awkward asking, considering their relative standings within Death City and Shibusen, but at this stage the young kunoichi was the best person for him to go to at the moment.

One eye opened and he glanced across at Tsubaki, but the side of his face visible was serious enough as he asked quietly, slipping into a more formal tone, "I was wondering if you could... instruct me in a few matters regarding being a Weapon." It felt strange only because the girl was younger him and potentially only a student herself, but she was not only a ninja ( ... )
