[Misao was just heading out of the apartment building when she spotted Kaoru, and started heading over to say hi, except--

Kaoru didn't look like she normally does. she was moving slowly, stumblingly, and she looked sad, almost--

...wait, no, she was crying. something was obviously wrong.

so have a concerned Misao coming up next to you, Kaoru.] Kaoru-san? What happened?

[Misao was noticed as she spoke up, and Kaoru looked at her with tears in her eyes. She blinked rapidly to remove them, managing a smile]

It's nothing--I just have something in my eye, haha! Whoops..[she proceeded to wipe her eyes furiously with her kimono sleeves]

[Hanabi's in the training area, working hard on her form and practicing with her Soul Menace ability. She knows it will take years to be truly skilled at it, but she has been making progress. Jyuuken has helped, and the rest has been a strong work ethic and her own determination.

She's pausing for a minute to stretch and have a sip of water when she notices Kaoru. Even without knowing her very well, Hanabi has come from a clan that's acutely aware of body language. She doesn't know if Kaoru will want to be left in peace or not, but it doesn't hurt to at least approach her to see if there's something she can do. Especially when she realizes Kaoru is crying.

Hanabi inclines her head politely in greeting as she walks toward Kaoru.]

Hello, Kaoru-san. Um...are you all right?

..Hanabi-chan? [Kaoru looked up with wide blue eyes, blinking down at her sleeves as she mumbled something like, "I thought this was empty for now" before she looked up, shaking her head, a sniff escaping]

It's nothing..I just--something in my eye, you know?

[Hanabi’s not buying it. She saw the sorrow in Kaoru’s body language, and can hear that she’s been crying in her voice. Even the way she seems distracted...all of them point to her crying. However, Hanabi isn’t blunt and rude. She was raised to have manners.]

Well, Death City is right beside a desert...so it’s not really surprising that you got something in your eye.

[She does look up at her when she speaks next, at first giving the impression that she’s trying to see what might be stuck in Kaoru’s eye.]

Still, you seem a little sad about something.

Yeah..[she stares blankly off into space, almost drifting away again until Hanabi zooms in the girl smiling a sad, sad smile. ]

Maybe. But ---it's something I should try to be happy for, regardless. Maybe that's why it's sad. Because..I'm not.

Takuto stopped in his tracks at the sound of a girl mumbling and crying. He turned, following the sound, and found...

"Sensei?" he asked carefully. His brow wrinkled in concern as he approached. He wondered what was wrong, knowing it had to be something terrible to get her looking so broken down. It was pointless to ask her if she was okay. "Do you want to talk?"

Kaoru looked up with red, swollen eyes, shaking her head with a resolute sniff. "No...I don't want to talk. I--there's nothing to talk about. There's nothing I should say now. " She said quietly, glancing vacantly out into the field.

"Takuto? How far would you go for someone's happiness?"

He was concerned by her reply, but he wasn't going to try to make her say something if she didn't want to. He just wanted to make sure she knew he'd be around if she needed him, though, so he sat down next to her.

Her question caught him off guard. He swallowed uncomfortably. "If it's someone I care about....

"I'd risk the fate of the world if it meant they'd be happy." He said it with utter conviction.

"...What about you? Would you---" She bit her lip, eyes shut. "Would you---distance yourself? If that could ensure their happiness?" She smiled weakly. "It sounds silly, huh? Having your senpai act like this."

Tohru was walking back from the grocery store, dreading going back to her empty apartment. After Yukimura's disappearance back to his own world she felt her heart heavy but still kept a smile on-that is until she was alone or until now when she spotted Kaoru.

She spotted her and was about to call out to her when something didn't look right. Tohru paused for a moment before quickening her steps as she hurried to the other girl.

"Kaoru-san....is everything okay?" She asked gently, worrying for the other. Kaoru had been there for her so it felt right to be there for her as well.

The shihandai blinked through her tears, lifting wary blue eyes. "Tohru-chan?" She queried, looking up at her with watery eyes.

"Yes..so..you see, it's really strange why I'm crying.."

Tohru was quiet for a moment as she gripped her grocery bags. Kaoru had looked like her every time she cried since Yukimura left...Tohru bit her lip, her face blank of any emotion as she set her groceries down and slowly wrapped her arms around Kaoru. Tohru wasn't going to push- she knew what it was like trying to explain and say things were okay. But hugs were always nice to give, especially since she was able to hug her without the worry of Kaoru turning into an animal in her arms.

She tightened her hold a little, giving a gentle smile of her own," I-It's okay Kaoru-san..you don't have to explain."

Her eyes widened at the gesture, before Kaoru found herself stiffening, as hot tears began to roll down her cheeks, again, a hiccuping sob escaping as she buried her face into Tohru's shoulder. "Sorry..I'm sorry--..I didn't know.." She sobbed into her shoulder, her trembling hands going around Tohru's back as she embraced the girl in reply.

If there was something Soul absolutely sucked at dealing with, it was girls crying. Still, he couldn't exactly leave that alone, could he? Besides, he recognized this guest. She had been pretty distraught upon her arrival back then.

"Hey. You okay?"

"...Soul-san?" Kaoru looked up from her tear-stained face and couldn't help but stare, an almost bitter giggle bubbling in her throat. "You always seem to catch me at weird times, huh?" Her smile is strained.

She was right, wasn't she? Soul scratched the back of his head. He wasn't bothered by it, really.

"It's cool."

"..I heard a sad story from someone important to me. In the story, a man suffered terrible things--..with a story like that I can't help but--" She wiped her eyes.

"---I don't know what to do for him. "
