Who: Kaoru Kamiya
What: After a meeting with Kenshin and Sanosuke about Kenshin's past, Kaoru goes off to think. She has a lot to think over.
Where: Training Area, The Streets, she's wandering around..
Style: Whichever you like.
Day: The 9th, mid-morning?

Tohru was walking back from the grocery store, dreading going back to her empty apartment. After Yukimura's disappearance back to his own world she felt her heart heavy but still kept a smile on-that is until she was alone or until now when she spotted Kaoru.

She spotted her and was about to call out to her when something didn't look right. Tohru paused for a moment before quickening her steps as she hurried to the other girl.

"Kaoru-san....is everything okay?" She asked gently, worrying for the other. Kaoru had been there for her so it felt right to be there for her as well.

The shihandai blinked through her tears, lifting wary blue eyes. "Tohru-chan?" She queried, looking up at her with watery eyes.

"Yes..so..you see, it's really strange why I'm crying.."

Tohru was quiet for a moment as she gripped her grocery bags. Kaoru had looked like her every time she cried since Yukimura left...Tohru bit her lip, her face blank of any emotion as she set her groceries down and slowly wrapped her arms around Kaoru. Tohru wasn't going to push- she knew what it was like trying to explain and say things were okay. But hugs were always nice to give, especially since she was able to hug her without the worry of Kaoru turning into an animal in her arms.

She tightened her hold a little, giving a gentle smile of her own," I-It's okay Kaoru-san..you don't have to explain."

Her eyes widened at the gesture, before Kaoru found herself stiffening, as hot tears began to roll down her cheeks, again, a hiccuping sob escaping as she buried her face into Tohru's shoulder. "Sorry..I'm sorry--..I didn't know.." She sobbed into her shoulder, her trembling hands going around Tohru's back as she embraced the girl in reply.

She hugged Kaoru tighter, rubbing her hand soothingly on the other girl's back as Tohru let Kaoru cry onto her shoulder. Her eyes were starting to sting with tears as well.

"It's okay Kaoru-san...It's going to be okay..." Tohru whispered comfortingly," Cry as much as you want-t.."

"So why am I sad...why..--I'm so selfish, Tohru." She sniffled, allowing this small moment of weakness. So much sadness in Kenshin's life and she wanted to fix it. So badly..but ever since that moment she heard about Tomoe it was like her voice was paralyzed.

"...Because..." Tohru replied after a moment of silence, " because it hurts...we all cry when we feel sad or hurt..It's natural..l-like being selfish."

Tohru looked sadly at her, smiling even as a few tears slid down her cheeks as well," Everyone is selfish in their own way Kaoru-san so don't feel bad! I-I'm selfish too...."

"...But I should be happy. Someone important to me got someone back, someone he loved once--(still?) so why am I.." In a boyish move she wiped her fist across her nose and eyes, her sleeves wet with tears, her cheeks red, as she sniffled, a hiccuping sob escaping.

Tohru listened attentively, resisting the urge to ask her who was it she was speaking about. Tohru understood her feelings though all too well..Tohru silently hugged her again.

"So why are you...what Kaoru-san?" She asked softly.

She clasped the girl's hands, smiling a watery smile. "Tohru-chan, I like you, okay? Thank you so much. If there's anything I can do to repay your kindness, anything at all..."

Two girls that were unwittingly an anchor within a home, both struggling with losses in different forms. It seemed like a rational idea.
