Rise & Gai [closed] forthecamera February 15 2011, 20:48:56 UTC
Maybe it was a silly thing to be excited about, but Rise for one could not wait for Gai to arrive.

Cooking had always been something she liked, but somehow, despite everyone else's warnings and complaints that she put too much spice in her food, she could never prevent herself from doing it. It was some sort of instinct. To finally find someone who held similar tastes to her was like a beacon of hope that finally, someone out there might be able to choke down what she made.

So it was with quite a bit of impatience and unnecessary sprucing up of the apartment that she waited for Gai to arrive.

Gai enjoyed cooking. He enjoyed eating his cooking. And he knew that Lee liked his cooking too. So it was beyond him as to why Kakashi, Tenten, and Neji (and really, most people) never seemed to like what he made. Kakashi had even complained about the smell of his curry! As if it was bad! Gai hadn't paid much attention, though. Kakashi complained about many things.

Arriving at the specified apartment, rather excited for a chance to share the joy of real flavor, Gai knocked. He resisted the urge to knock again right away. While he was glad of this opportunity, being too enthusiastic might scare Rise. Sometimes, every now and then, Gai was a little too... eager.

That had to be him! Rise all but jumped out of her seat and she had to steady herself from racing all the way to the door. Wait a moment...aaaand now would be a good time to open. She did just that, greeting Gai with a grin.

"Hey there! Come in, come in!" she stepped aside so he could enter.

"Hello! Thank you!" Gai looked her over as he entered. She seemed younger but in relatively good shape; he could certainly teach her if she still needed a trainer. A few simple tests would tell him where she was in relation to Tenten. But that wasn't the focus of right now. Right now, it was time to cook.

He bowed his head at her. "I have brought a few different types of peppers that I thought could help if you would like. I didn't know what you might already have, and I forgot to ask. What would we like to work at?"

Luki is, as always, supportive of her big sis. Possibly more so than is necessary, but this isn't any exception. However, there is a limit to how much food Luki can eat. There reaches a point where eating more than she weighs bogs her down. After an entire morning of spicy food, Luki is quite...

burned out. So, rather than bouncing all over the place, she's resting quite peacefully on the ground beside the stand. Her legs are spread out on the ground and she's clutching her little backpack, glancing occasionally at her big sis and her new friend, but mostly she's watching the sky and the people who come to try all the spicy food.

Rise was surprised, but delighted by how much Luki had eaten. Most people complained by the first spoonful. It just went to show that those other people were just whiners.

She smiled, leaving the stand in Gai's care for a moment and plopped down next to Luki, ruffling her head.

"How's Luki doing?"

That was quite the possibility, but then again Luki was a difficult standard to gauge normality by considering how magnificent and amazing and invincible she is.

However, when her big sis suddenly ruffles her hair, she lets out a small squeak and sinks down a bit. What a dastardly big sis, catching her while she's spacing out and such. She puts her hands on her head when she looks up at her big sis, offering her a complacent and delighted smile.

"Luki's good, of course! How is big sis doing?"

Dastardly indeed! Rise was getting better at being sneaky. No, not really, it probably meant that she should just finally really how inhibiting her food can be.

"I'm doing well! I'm really happy to have found someone who likes spicy food as much as I do. I guess it's kind of silly to get excited over something so simple but it really does make me happy. And you ate so much too!"

Bold is out on the town, trying to find some cute accessories to go with her clothes--because at least one of the personalities needs to look nice all the time instead of wearing the long skirts and oversized sweaters like Normal did.

When she sees the stand and recognizes Gai, she bounds right on over. "Gai-chan~! What's with the free food?" She's beaming, bright and happy and yes she did just call him 'Gai-chan.' What is showing respect.

"La--Lain!" There was a hesitation there, because the way she was addressing him didn't seem like what she called 'normal.' It seemed like the 'bold' one, and he wasn't sure if she had something specific she wanted to be called. "I've been cooking with Rise and we are offering what we've made to the general public! Would you like anything? They're all delicious; we sampled to make sure!"

He gestures at the offerings. "Also, there is no charge." Though she'd already said free, he wanted to emphasize that just in case it was still a bit in questioin. "How have you been today?"

"Yeah, that's me!" She grinned, setting her bags down. The hesitation makes her laughs though. "Just call me 'Bold,' it's fine!"

It all looked so good, and though she knew Normal was going to hate her for this..>Well, she's already going to be annoyed with her. She picks out a random bowl and gets to eating.

She finds it totally fine. "Ah! This is great, good job! I've been doing good." Bold nodded towards the bags on the ground. "I've been shopping. Normal keeps hoarding all our money-- Can't think why it's just wasting away. So I took the liberty of taking some of it off her hands. She's gonna be pretty ticked once she wakes up."

But Bold laughs, as this doesn't bother her at all.

"Bold. I'm sorry. I could not remember if you wished to be addressed differently."

Gai beams as she declares it good and great. "Do you think so? I'm glad! We spent a good deal of time trying to make it flavorful and like how both of us wanted it. I was hoping people would enjoy this! Few people appreciate my efforts when I cook normally."

Eying the bags, Gai considers this. "Does she have something she's saving for? If so, then she would be right to be annoyed, as I believe she does most of the work? But you are entitled to a share for what work you do, I believe. Or if she does not have plans and this does not mess anything up. Is it things that both of you would like?"

There are a lot of things he was dealing with here that he isn't used to. Multiple personalities thanks to Lain, someone who is very odd about numbers and cleaning like Monk... he just doesn't have experience here. But he is learning, and trying to do his best by each and every one of them.

Fuuka wasn't a social person but she did need to go shopping from time to time. While she doesn't like huge crowds, she had to do what she had to do. Before she entered the mall, she recognized someone she had seen before.

"Rise-san? What is going on?" She asked when she walked towards them. She didn't know who the other person was but she wouldn't mind talking to him.

"Hi Fuuka!"

It had been a while since Rise had seen her fellow Persona user--or even spoken to her so the greeting came with a little more enthusiasm than probably necessary.

"Gai and I made some food! Would you like to try it out?"

ohmyjuno February 16 2011, 00:48:56 UTC
She was not expecting that enthusiasm but she didn't mind though.

"Oh, I see!" As she stared down at the food, she suddenly found herself hungry. Couldn't hurt to take a bite though. "Sure, if you don't mind." She said to Rise before looking back down at the bowls. She pondered to herself a bit. The fact that her mouth was watering a bit wasn't polite at all!

He waved cheerfully in the direction of the new arrival. Fuuka, Rise had called her, but Gai couldn't use her name without an introduction. "We do not mind at all! That is what we are here for!"

Gai nodded his head to her. "I am Gai, and we put this together for everyone to enjoy. Take what you would like, there is plenty."

The "Free Samples' sign caught her attention and noticing that it did in fact refer to food brought Ran Fan over to the booth. She looked at the food silently for a moment before just reaching for one of the bowls.

Gai nodded to the girl that had wandered over. "Hello! Pick anything and I hope you enjoy it! We combined our techniques to make these offerings, we being Miss Rise and myself." He pushed the bowl a little closer so that she wouldn't have to reach far at all, and waited to see what she thought of it.

She merely nodded in response, picking up the bowl. She took a spoonful out and put it in her mouth, going completely stiff after a moment with wide eyes. This was... really spicy.

She swallowed it quickly after this, looking at the contents of the bowl with a small, curious frown.

He saw the stiffness and wondered if maybe the food wasn't to her taste. They'd tried their best, but for some reason people didn't always like flavorful things. The look on her face, though, he couldn't decipher.

"...Is everything all right? You do not have food allergies, right?"
