There was obviously no reply when America knocked on the final door in the hallway of the fourth floor of the Casualty Communal. He would not get one, no matter how hard he tried. There was also no light visible underneath the door. Perhaps England had gone out.

But the faint smell of smoke caught America's nostrils. It didn't smell like something was burning. Rather, cigarette smoke. Behind the door.

...England was smoking again.

The hand that had been about to knock once again, stopped before contact. Suddenly, he felt nervous, almost uncomfortable. Sure, he knew that England smoked sometimes, but he'd always been pretty good about not doing it in front of him.

The momentary falter in courage was quickly put under control. America cleared his throat and spoke loud enough to be heard through the door. "England, if you don't open up, I'll kick the door down. I did it with Russia's door, that one time. I'm getting pretty good at it." he said calmly. "And besides, I can smell it. Your smoking."

And still, no reply came.

"I'm not paying for it," he huffed, sticking his hands in his pockets and carrying out his threat.

The door went flying back, breaking the silence of the room once and for all.

Yoko was not sure what dish to make. What kind of food did Arthur like anyways? She was rather lost on what to make exactly as she sat at the couch before finally settling on pasta and a nice salad. She was busy making the sauce after picking up Lain from the hospital. It was only a matter of time until Al would Arthur back...Yoko sighed, dusting her hands on the apron she wore as she peered into the living room.

"Lain, did you want anything to drink before we eat?" She asked.

Normal sat awardly on the couch, taking deep breaths. She wasn't used to this; nice family scenes, with people who cared. it was new and she felt...well, awkward.

Bold leaned back in her mind, stretching lightly. Their body ached still, the long scar the ran the length of her spine throbbing, but she'd remained quiet about it, afraid that Yoko would fuss about it and not let her come.

The question jars her from her musing and she stares at Yoko, wide-eyed, and blinks. "Oh, um... J-just some water, I guess...?"

She smiled at Lain, pausing her cooking to get a glass of water for Lain. She walked out of the kitchen and set the glass on the table in front of Lain. Yoko placed her hands on her hips, a small frown on her lips.

"..Are you going to be okay Lain? You seem a bit out of it.." She asked in concern, She paused before smiling gently," Arthur is nice, I promise."

Lain shook her head slowly, taking the water and sipping from it. It was a nice distraction, but she drank quickly as though afraid it would be suddenly ripped from her. And given the treatment and lack of food and water she'd gotten from the Witches it wasn't much of a surprise.

"N-No, I'm... It's just...hard. Getting back to normal life." Normal is quiet a moment, glancing towards the door. "And I'm worried about... Well, I'm always worried about how people will, you know... react."

To her other selves, she meant. "But I'll be okay, I promise." She even manged a small, but reassuring smile.

Once dinner was settled, Yoko made sure Simon and Lain were nestled into bed or at least out of the room before she returned to the kitchen. She smiled at both America and England though it was a little strained as she moved to the sink to start cleaning the dishes.

"Do you want some tea Arthur? I was going to brew a pot," Yoko replied as she scrubbed at the dishes.

England was still seated at the table with his head bowed slightly. He'd been lost in his thoughts when Yoko spoke to him. He lifted his head. "Oh! Tea would be lovely," he said, responding with the same sort of forced smile. "Thank you."

Ah. America had been having a nice time. Too nice of a time. He'd forgotten what was supposed to come after dinner. They needed to talk.

Getting up from the table, America walked over to the fridge and grabbed out a can of soda for himself. Tea wasn't his thing. Snapping the top open, he took a long gulp before speaking. "Are you feeling any better now? Did dinner help?"

Yoko paused in washing the dishes to go prepare the tea as she took a small glance to Al as he asked Arthur a question. She was just as worried for Arthur and...he seemed a bit peeved still.

She placed the kettle on the stove then went back to washing the dishes. Yoko was not going to comment just yet and instead, listened intently.
