Yoko was not sure what dish to make. What kind of food did Arthur like anyways? She was rather lost on what to make exactly as she sat at the couch before finally settling on pasta and a nice salad. She was busy making the sauce after picking up Lain from the hospital. It was only a matter of time until Al would Arthur back...Yoko sighed, dusting her hands on the apron she wore as she peered into the living room.

"Lain, did you want anything to drink before we eat?" She asked.

Normal sat awardly on the couch, taking deep breaths. She wasn't used to this; nice family scenes, with people who cared. it was new and she felt...well, awkward.

Bold leaned back in her mind, stretching lightly. Their body ached still, the long scar the ran the length of her spine throbbing, but she'd remained quiet about it, afraid that Yoko would fuss about it and not let her come.

The question jars her from her musing and she stares at Yoko, wide-eyed, and blinks. "Oh, um... J-just some water, I guess...?"

She smiled at Lain, pausing her cooking to get a glass of water for Lain. She walked out of the kitchen and set the glass on the table in front of Lain. Yoko placed her hands on her hips, a small frown on her lips.

"..Are you going to be okay Lain? You seem a bit out of it.." She asked in concern, She paused before smiling gently," Arthur is nice, I promise."

Lain shook her head slowly, taking the water and sipping from it. It was a nice distraction, but she drank quickly as though afraid it would be suddenly ripped from her. And given the treatment and lack of food and water she'd gotten from the Witches it wasn't much of a surprise.

"N-No, I'm... It's just...hard. Getting back to normal life." Normal is quiet a moment, glancing towards the door. "And I'm worried about... Well, I'm always worried about how people will, you know... react."

To her other selves, she meant. "But I'll be okay, I promise." She even manged a small, but reassuring smile.

A sound came from the entrance: the wiggling of the doorknob and two muffled voices from the other side.

"--ld you just hold still! Geez! I'm saving you here!" America whined as he opened the door. Hair messy and glasses skewed, his condition looked a little worse off than it had when he'd left to go find England. And understandably so. He'd literally had to half drag, half carry the other ex country here, out of that gloomy den of alcohol, cigarettes and mystery. Yes, America had gone through quite a bit of trouble tonight and he was not about to give up here, right when he was on the home stretch.

"Yoko! Lain! We're back! Sorry it took us so long! We ran into a pothole on the way here and tripped."

Even though Yoko had assured Lain that the new person she was about to meet was a nice man, he didn't sound nice. England bellowed in America's arms. He even reached out and gripped at the door frame. They were too close. Too close to his old apartment. It was making him antsy.

"Stop it, Americaaaaa! Let gooooo!" He'd been like this the whole way there, more ashamed, if anything, at what he'd done to himself. Nothing was going right.

Yoko froze when she heard the yelling. Her eye visibly twitched at that moment and she stood in front of Lain- worried about the girl now that they had to make this dinner so dramatic. Yoko turned slowly to the door before walking to them. She smiled though if you knew Yoko--she was not pleased.

"Right. I see. Arthur--"Her voice was calm," I--would like you to introduce one of the kids living with us. Her name is Lain..."

She knew being right next to his old room was bad but with Lain being so cautious and nervous. Her mother bear complex reared its ugly head.

"I hope you don't mind pasta~ I also had a nice salad to go with it."

Lain was up in an instant, the yelling startling her in a rather bad way. The lengthy scar along her spine protested to the sudden quick movement, but Lain was more concerned with hiding.

She clung to Yoko's shirt, ducking behind the older woman and trembling. Her breath came out in short, sharp bursts, head bowed as she struggled to reign herself in again. lain had to calm down; this wasn't that building, this wasn't with the witches and the yells weren't ones of tortured agony--though, really, Arthur's shouts bordered on that one--and she was safe.

Lain took a deep breath and peeked shyly out from behind Yoko to take a look at the new guest, staying silent for now.

Errp-! Right. He'd forgotten about that. He had to be... less intense. Alfred tried to smile apologetically over to Lain. More than even Yoko's mama-bear mode, seeing Lain like that made his shoulders droop. This dinner wasn't just about cheering England up, in America's eyes, after all, it was about her too.

Not that that meant he was going to loosen his grip on Arthur any time soon. The other nation really was not allowed to be left alone right now. He had decided this. "That's right! Lain, this is Arthur! He's like me, only older and he used to be a pirate. Arthur, this is Lain. Lain, Arthur. Arthur, Lain."

Telling a frightened girl that the person you were introducing used to be a pirate was probably not the best idea, America. Hearing Yoko caused England to stiffen. It wasn't that he was afraid of her, but more that he did not want her to see him carrying on. And by the time America introduced Lain, he was still.

He pushed away from America, fighting off the instinct to run. He did not know it yet, but he and Lain were rather similar in the fact that they were both not used to having people surround them and love them. England usually lived alone, constantly brooding, constantly closing himself off from getting too close. Being in Death City had changed this so much. He wasn't allowed to hide, wasn't given the luxury of brooding. He wasn't sure if this was a good thing or a bad thing yet.

After quite a bit of hesitation, he opened his mouth to speak. He was a gentleman, after all. "...I apologize for frightening you," he said softly, lifting his eyes to the dark-haired girl. It wasn't her fault that he was a wreck. "My name is Arthur ( ... )

Yoko glared at Alfred. That was terrible to tell Lain that. She rested her hand on Lain's head in a comforting manner as she waited for the girl to calm down. When England calmed himself, Yoko was calming down as well. She smiled gently and bent over to smile at Lain.

"He's nice Lain, go on--say hello," She replied softly, moving just a little so Lain could look at Arthur better.

"He use to be here too but then disappeared...Like Shouichi and Spanner but he came back. He enjoys tea like you."

A pirate? She ran the word over in her mind and eyed the man in front of her. He didn't look anything like the pirates she'd heard about in stories-- but then again, Lain's memories of anything past the time Chisa killed herself and she started receiving e-mails were spotty at best. Fabricated memories that didn't hold much meaning to her now, but they at least gave her things to go off of, to seem a bit more human ( ... )

Meanwhile, Simon couldn't help but overhear the conversation that the others were saying. While the boy was much more confident than he was before, he was still the same shy person who had trouble talking to others from time to time. As they continued to talk, he wasn't sure when was a good time to come in. He didn't want to bother them and it felt awkward to just jump right in.

Besides, he wasn't sure who this Arthur was either. However, the image that Alfred painted for him wasn't a pretty one. As he took a small peak at the room, Arthur didn't seem like a bad person. Sadly, he couldn't be sure. It seems like they also brought someone new too. Simon never met Lain before but he has seen her with Yoko at times.

America countered Yoko's glare with a shining, I-Told-You-So grin. See? The pirate thing was the perfect conversation starter! And Arthur and Lain looked like they were going to get along just fine, given a little time.

Alfred nodded to himself, pleased with the results of his quick, genius thinking. It was then that Simon caught his eyes. So that's where the kid was hiding. Trying not to interrupt the conversation between England and the others, America waved slightly at the younger boy, voicelessly mouthing words that seemed to say: "Simon! You're coming in too, right?"

"I-It was a long time ago," England said to Lain as he rubbed the back of his neck. He didn't like to talk about it much. Those times were difficult, and he'd been angry with America and Prussia and... Well.

Yoko listened curiously, only have heard stories vaguely from Alfred about Arthur's glory days as a pirate. They sounded quite interesting atleast. Yoko looked over and spotted Simon, she smiled walking over and gently pulling him out so he could be in full view.

"Actually, there is one more person you need to meet. You as well Lain," Yoko replied," Lain, Arthur-this is a close friend of mine from my own world. His name is Simon."
