Once dinner was settled, Yoko made sure Simon and Lain were nestled into bed or at least out of the room before she returned to the kitchen. She smiled at both America and England though it was a little strained as she moved to the sink to start cleaning the dishes.

"Do you want some tea Arthur? I was going to brew a pot," Yoko replied as she scrubbed at the dishes.

England was still seated at the table with his head bowed slightly. He'd been lost in his thoughts when Yoko spoke to him. He lifted his head. "Oh! Tea would be lovely," he said, responding with the same sort of forced smile. "Thank you."

Ah. America had been having a nice time. Too nice of a time. He'd forgotten what was supposed to come after dinner. They needed to talk.

Getting up from the table, America walked over to the fridge and grabbed out a can of soda for himself. Tea wasn't his thing. Snapping the top open, he took a long gulp before speaking. "Are you feeling any better now? Did dinner help?"

Yoko paused in washing the dishes to go prepare the tea as she took a small glance to Al as he asked Arthur a question. She was just as worried for Arthur and...he seemed a bit peeved still.

She placed the kettle on the stove then went back to washing the dishes. Yoko was not going to comment just yet and instead, listened intently.

"A little," England answered honestly as he watched America and Yoko in the kitchen. For the most part, he was still upset, though he knew he had no right to be. Of course Prussia had gotten a new partner. That guy kept going, no matter what life threw at him. It had just been a shock to hear about it. From Spain, of all people. England wasn't quite sure what to do with himself. At least now that the beer had had some time to wear off, he was able to think rationally again.

He certainly looked more rational, that was for sure. That didn't make the coming conversation any easier. At least Spain had gotten the big part of the news out of the way for them. That Spain. America wasn't thankful, but he'd push forward.

"That's... good. I'm glad...." Fidgeting uncomfortably, he moved to sit back down.

Yoko finished with the dishes as the kettle whistled and she moved over to prepare the tea. Once she was done, she set a cup down in front of Arthur before sitting down herself with her own cup. She looked worriedly at Arthur.

"...You know, you're more than welcome to team up with Al and I--" she replied, reaching over to pat his hand comfortingly," Arthur..we all..well..we didn't expect it to happen."

England shook his head. "I don't want to come between you two," he replied. The tea looked lovely, and he kept his gaze down so he could look at it. Or rather, at his reflection in the cup. "It's how Gilbert is. He will look for any opportunity to win, no matter what. I was sent home, so what else could he do?"

True. To get home had always been the main objective. In the end, the partnerships that were formed here were only temporary as it was. Once things were over and the war had been won.... America spared a glace over to his own partner while he was sure she wasn't looking. Thinking like that was only making him feel worse.

Even so, he had really seen it coming. "Gil wanted to get home soon, so he could see you again. Of course he'd push on forward."

"I wouldn't think so Arthur, it's fine-really," She replied, turning to Alfred as he gave her a longing look. She blinked, feeling rather sad suddenly as she quickly stared down at her tea.

"Gil really...was distraught when you left. A lot of us were. It's not your fault but don't push yourself down because of it."

The words only made England feel worse. Prussia wanted to see him again. Prussia was really distraught. He bowed his head and took a sip of tea without saying anything, for now.

Caught in his staring, Al quickly turned his head up towards the ceiling as he thumbed the top of his cola can. Click. Click. Clung.

So quiet.

That didn't give him much to work with, so America remained silent for a good while as well.

Might as well bite the bullet? Taking a deep breath he began to speak: "Art, Antonio didn't really explain everything to you. And if the situation was different, letting Gil tell you all of this himself would have been the right choice. But it's a little late for that... Gil's partner is Ludwig."

Yoko watched worried when Arthur was silent the whole time before Al finally broke the awkward silence with what happened. Well, the whole truth now rather than what only Antonio has told Arthur.

"When you left..so did Italy as well, so both went to each other to become partners," Yoko finished softly.

"..."

Where to begin? England was pretty sure his brain was short-circuiting. Prussia had teamed up with Germany? Italy was gone? Germany was Prussia's new partner?!

England lowered his head, eyes wide. "But... He... When they tried to resonate before..." They hadn't been able to. Prussia had told him!

"They're the type to make things work. Because they needed to." Germany and Prussia were brothers. It made sense that, at a moment when they both needed one another the most, the two of them would push forward and find a way to make it work.

For the first time, it occurred to America that for all of the concern and worry he'd been placing on Prussia after England's departure, he's never bothered to consider what Germany must have been going through since Italy had left.

...This whole situation was a mess. Alfred just wanted everyone to be happy again. But now, he was beginning to understand that happiness was a little further out of reach than he'd originally thought it would be.

Yoko nodded her head in agreement," They were desperate Arthur--I don't know if they can resonate or not but it was logical that they would team up together...I'm sorry Arthur."

She looked at him solemnly, silent for a moment as she glanced over at Alfred. Yoko wanted to say something else..but...nothing came into words. Instead, she just remained silent.
