Holmes was never one for social interactions beyond was was needed for day to day survival in his line of work. Usually that included rubbing elbows with people from all walks of life. From aristocrats to the woman who sold flowers in White Chapel. Still, even in a place like this, there were times when Holmes preferred the quiet of having no one around. There was also little use in being in a noisy library; considering the small threat that loomed around them aside the witches.

The detective had been reading several of the chemistry books that the modern era held that his eyes had never seen. The shuffling of new footfalls made him pause for a moment before he continued on. It was where the footsteps stopped that made him look up to see the woman at the familiar section.

Lust had noticed him while approaching, but Holmes was of no particular interest to her at this moment. She assumed if he were here at this time of day, it would be for the sake of reading and not socialising. Not that it made any difference as she wouldn't have been the type to start a sudden conversation either way.

She stopped advancing about a metre away from one of the shelves, glancing up and casting her eyes over the hundreds of neatly stacked books. Now where to begin?

As much as she hated to admit it, things would be a lot more difficult now without the usual human "tools" so easily put to use.

Even if she seemed to ignore him for the moment, Holmes watched the woman carefully. The simple way she moved he could tell she was one who had lost a great deal through BREW. Materialistically at the very least, and perhaps those 'powers' he had heard and experienced. Either way, it was the most interesting thing he'd been able to observe all morning.

She was obviously a guest, one of their own as it were. New arrival if she was only just getting to the library. Also going by the time and manner of arrival, she was not going to be one to find out things from others. Curious.

Didn't anyone ever tell you it's rude to stare? While selecting a book to start with, she was well aware of the man observing her every movement. He didn't seem to pose any threat right now, so she paid little attention to him as she began to leaf through the pages of text.

However, she did know people were rarely as they appeared and kept her senses alert, ready to retaliate if he did anything unexpected.

Izaya flipped through the pages, chuckling, and trying to find his place again. He came to read every once in a while; not often enough to be a routine or a habit, but not so rarely as to call attention to himself. He was quiet and he didn't cause trouble, so he was fairly certain the librarian wasn't even aware he existed. That was the precarious balance, the difficulty in it. To strike right in the middle, between being so invisible it's obvious something's missing, or so blatant there's no way to forget it. Izaya thrilled himself in walking the fine line and deciding who was allowed to notice him, and who wasn't.

It was such a dreadfully boring book, too. Full of complicated studies and theories on resonation, making everything far more convoluted than it should be. Izaya didn't have a weapon and thus far he had seen none he was willing to approach, but the book was boring enough no one had taken it, so he could come and go and still find it in the shelves every time ( ... )

Sorry Izaya, you might have taken note of Lust's entrance, but this girl couldn't care less about you right now (unless that's a good thing because you don't want to be noticed). She had mentally scanned the library and was aware of a few others being scattered around, but no one had caught enough of her attention to be particularly noticed.

Wandering over to one of the shelves, she simply picks out the first book that seems revelant. Not the type to search the entire library for the easiest one to start on. After all, sneaking around for information wasn't a new experience and she trusted her methods enough from past experience. After a few minutes, she'll agree that it's a horribly tedious thing to read. Still information tended to be a lot less interesting than a lot of books and she'll continue to leaf through it until something else catches her interest.

Not being noticed was perfectly fine for him, it let him study her some more. He remembered her rather spectacular introduction, though he had thought it wise to keep dear, loving Kanra away. He found it fascinating that something so violent could seem so calm and collected. He had read her comments - he read everyone's comments - but what really stood out in his memory was the fact she'd flatly claimed immortality. And she had a negative attitude to boot. He'd take out his own communicator and revise her conversations right there and then, if it weren't for the fact his had been long "lost".

Izaya chuckled at himself and flipped another page, not being discreet at all, whenever he looked up to study his query of the day.

He had not lied, when he'd told Mukuro that BREW was kind to him. Not only had the strange artifact given him a new, very handy power, it had also brought along everyone interesting from home - the fact Shizuo had been brought along was just a side effect and he supposed even sentient, all powerful machines could ( ... )

STALKER!!!!!!!!!!! She doesn't have a negative attitude, you just all piss her off!!!!...*cough*

She realised someone was watching her after a few moments, but had no plans to confront him for it. Lust was use to being stared at and it didn't bother her in the slightest. Still, this new world was different to her own and it was probably safer to be cautious and be ready in case he did something unexpected.

Turning to the next section of the book, she was met with the bold title of "Soul Perception". The whole issue of "souls" had been bothering her ever since arriving in Death City. For one, she was hardly comfortable about having some mad scientist being able to read her.

She shouldn't have had a soul in the first place, minus the few thousand concentrated into her Philosopher's Stone...
