one. He would be lying if he said if he wasn't scared, even when he was the one who made the decision and asked Koujurou to do this for him. Koujurou had accepted the order without (too much) protest, so there was no way for him to back down now. He couldn't back down, anyway. To back down would mean to turn back on what he was striving for, and Bontenmaru had long since learned to never back down no matter what. Even when he was weak and frail and prone to collapsing any second, there was a constant flame that burned within him, and that fire was what drove him on

two; concluded reality

two. The recovery took a good while, but once it was done Bontenmaru was better than ever, strength and energy returned to him when he once lost it and the first thing the boy did once he was well was to step out of his room and go around the mansion once. Until now he never had the chance to because he had always been shut in his own room and stuck in his own quarters, but now that had changed and starting from today he was going to put his all in becoming the man he resolved himself to be

three; training

three. It was Bontenmaru's first practice ever since his eye was taken out, and needless to say the lack of practice had not helped the boy's lack of strength at all. Koujurou could only sigh in frustration as the boy tumbled down onto the ground again, a shout escaping him as his back stuck hard against the earth and Bontenmaru landed with a resounding 'thud

four; contemplations

His first campaign was over, and as much as it had been a success it had also been a loss, for many men were sacrificed due to Masamune's own carelessness and the deaths had been many, much more than expected. The upcoming warlord had been told this by his father when he had returned, and after that Date had been silent, contemplating. It was like this did Koujurou find his young charge sitting at the edge of one of the corridors, silent as he stared out into the distance

five. The funeral that was held was sombre in its mood, but throughout it all the newly appointed head of Oshu was only silent, the expression on his face stoic as he looked at the gave of his father and swore before everybody that he would continue to build Oshu towards greater heights

(And the reason why Date never cried in front of his people was because he had already did his crying before - and there were only three times when he cried for his father who died before of him, his mother who betrayed him so deeply and his brother who he had to kill before he could be the true head of Oshu. Nobody ever saw these tears besides Koujurou, and the retainer would die before telling anybody of the sadness that blanketed his master's heart.)
